Hi, i am considering changing 1985 model MK2 Golf GTI 5 speed for a later model cable change G60 5 speed gearbox. Does anyone know what difficulties are involved with the swap? Can i use the original mechanical linkage setup? Any advise would be greatly appreciated thanks

You need to change the shifter assy, thats easy and either the pedal cluster for one with a hydraulic clutch, or adapt the gearbox to cable clutch.
