  • My 68 vee-dub :D

i bought this car when i was 15...first car so technically i didn't write my first car off when i killed the golf!

After only a short time with working on dubs i decided to buy my lil beast... i will try and dig some pictures up of what it used to looks like when i first bought it (was painted but i hated the colour). i stripped the car and started prepping it for paint...but then after long discussions with numerous people i decided to buy not 1 but 3 golfs in the time span of about 12 months...they all got scrapped as some were jut for parts and ones was killed and thats where this dub stopped.

and here we will start again

i know its not watercooled (yet ) but i wanna share with you the passion i still have for vw's!!!!

can't find any pics of when i first got it but i will keep trying! it was an ugly mettalic brown colour...then i noticed a bit of rust!!! so i sanded it back and back and back to find more and more...popped the windows sure enough...RUST! so i sent the car across the road to the welder and paid him to fix it all...now its rust free

Before i did the body work i replace the plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor button, points and did a gearbox oil change and a motor oil change...runs like a dream!!! i started it it first crank after about 9 months of sitting there last week

anyway here is the begining, first the damage:
    battery floor

    Rear window

    left A pillar
will have to take a pic of what it looks like now...has a brand newy welded in there

have to get a pic of that now too

right on the ball my friend EJ25 soon to be or a 12a because no body mods need to be made

so basically i have spent quite a bit of time on it already!!!

and a crap load of money...

              I have brand new:
Seals (everything!), headlining, carpet, sunvisors, door cards, running boards, one piece windows, rear drums and lots of little things too.

I have perfect chrome handles all around...basically everything to put it back together!!!!

i even bought the paint! all i need are some low back seats (t shape runners) and early 62 'blade' type bumpers and i'm set

more pics going up soon when i find them...will tkae some more of the progress over the weekend!
