What a weapon. I think its a 1.6l turbo because he comes in under 3l after you do the forced induction multiplication.
    Hey Guys,

Had a good day yesterday. Well run and clean driving had. Our previous pb at wakefield was a 1.07:5 so it was nice to see the 1.05:XX yesterday.
The car had only been run twice(both times at Sydney Motorsport Park) since VW Nats 2013 where we were plagued with some issues and spent more time off track than on. Looking at yesterdays data there there is a definite 1.04 in the best sectors however those sector times do not take into account the synchro problems and time lost in granny shifting. There is a 1.03 in the car the way it is. This car is still under heavy development!!!

Then we make some changes to chase more time for WTAC 2014.

abreut, You were in the mk1 1.8lt t yeah? The Charade was running 14psi(LOW BOOST) for the first two sessions. That and being in the slip stream helped you down the straight. Your car did look like it moved. In the following two sessions on 23psi roughly 430hp, pace down the straight was up 25km/h. Went from from 185 to 210. The car has logged 215 at the kink previously with no aero.

    Cheers

Hi Alex, yes that was me in the mk1, I chatted to you or Miquel? in the morning as well. I was wondering why I was able to stay close to you on the straight after seeing you tear down there last year. Must have been when you were on low boost. I have some in-car footage of you tearing past on the back straight, I'll dig it up and upload it. Well done on the 1:05!

All good. Yeah the first two sessions were on low boost as we wanted to collect some data on the setup before setting 23psi and KILL MODE!!

Thanks r.e the 1:05. will be back during the week for a test day on fresh rubber and rectified gear issues.

Thanks to Chris Fraser and the CAMS Officials

A fantastic day. Hat's off to Chris Fraser for another slick event. Thanks also to the VW fans with CAMS quals who stepped in to run the event.

So happy to get a new PB. Didn't get the 1:07 I was hoping for but a 1:08.3 will do. 4th overall and I changed tyres and drove home to Canberra ready to drive to kid's rugby on Sunday and work on Monday. The thgree cars ahead of me all went home on trailers Just kidding, all the cars were awesome. The black bug running 1:10 was quick. I followed him out of a few corners before passing and he seemed to slingshot out of them.

Done 2011, 2012, 2014, missed 2013 due to mechanical (water pipe) and will be back next year.

            This thread needs more video!

Here's one of me getting hunted down by the charade monster (which was most likely still on low boost, it was the second morning session)

Nice work Andrew! The modded r's are getting faster each year. I also had to drive the car home. It was sheer relief I felt after double entering a 32 year old car and having it hold together hehe.

Unfortunately the only other one I got was just as I was coming back in a lap early and the charade just appeared as I was taking the exit road. It did sound a bit more lively in the afternoon though I must say.

Thanks to Chris and the crew.....our team had a ball...Frank R stein performed excellent for its first outing and take my hat off for such a close contest zhifchik for the fastest VW competing...2 hundreths of a second split the results with a close behind from the scirocco of Gough from what I understand using a std tune with great driving skills..congrats......our plans include suspension upgrade ...VWR kit is on the cards as the std shocks with over 40k just let the golf down. A few more kg's from car and driver will make this golf a little more interesting...hope to post a short in car video on our face book page very soon.....look for volksmuller. Our golf R is called Frank R stein due to the nature of the build....this was a stat write off and we graffted the right side of a GTI hence the colour difference. This build set out to prove the product and workmanship we do using our partners APR & VWR gives the guy on the street a great chance to compete on the track with great results.
