  • Road registering a modified race car to drive to events in SA

Not sure if anyone can help but I thought I would throw this out there.

I am building a hillclimb/track car and I want to road register it so I can drive to events, I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction if it is at all possible. I don't have a tow car or trailer as yet so this was something I wanted to look into. My mk1 golf has been stripped, 6 point cage, seat, harness, 1.8 twincam, poly carb windows etc.

It does have brake lights, indicators & windscreen wipers but not headlights.

Does anyone know if this is possible and what the minimum requirements are?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Cheers

Try and see if you have a "club" registration available. They can relax the regulations as the registration is only valid to get to and from an event. There will be minimum requirements that must be met. I am sure that you will have to have headlights.

In victoria, you can have a rally permit. It's essentially a permament unreg'd vehicle permit to drive the car to the event, or the mechanics.

I don't know if a) SA has this
or b) if your car would be eligible

      Good luck!

Cool cheers, I can pop head lights in easily enough. Looks like I have some calls to make.

        Thanks for the help
