  • Mt Buller Sprint

Just wondering if anyone else is planning on entering this year? We sent in our entry today and are really looking forward to our second crack at the 16km climb up the mountain, hopefully this year we wont have torrential rain, fog and snow like we had in 07. I see that Dean from Volkspower has entered as well is there anyone else?

    Cheers Al

Big bucks to enter and not a cheap weekend! I would be very keen though to do a weekend away as spectators. I can get very cheap accomidation on the mountain in a fully contained flat.

For anyone wanting to experience the event without having to spend 3K to enter motorsport they are having a touring class that costs $350.00 and you get two runs a day up the mountain behind the pace car at 80%. You don't need a cage for the touring event and you have a viewing area in the village to watch the motorsport competitors from.

I'll spectate but I think it'll be too exxy to enter

im pretty sure they are very picky at who they let enter this event anyways. Its not your average hillclimb. Last time I went jim richards was there making it look way too easy.

The statements above are just plain wrong.

As long as your car complies with the rules for the motorsport section your entry will be accepted, I know the guys who run this personally and was away on the ATC with them last week and spoke to Timmy on the phone today who is the secretary for the event and they could care less who a person "is" as long as the car meets the rules and you have the entry fee and licences and all 150 spots aren't taken you're in.

As for the touring event, for $350.00 that is hardly big bucks and though it is limited to 30 entries it is still a fantastic way to experience one of the best driving roads in the country in a closed condition and take part in all the other aspects of the event.

For sure if you'd rather just show up to spectate by all means go for it but it really isn't that hard to take part in these events and you don't have to be Jim Richards to get an entry either and BTW he is very approachable and willing to chat to anyone about motorsport.

                    Cheers Al

Dont want to turn this into an argument mate but you can use a raod car at Phillip Island, Morewell, Calder, Winton etc and get easy 2 hours lap time for under $150. That is enough to ware out any of us.

$350 to drive at 80% on a raod any of us can drive any day of the week. Doesnt appeal to me but may appeal to others.

I am not putting the event down in any way but its not a cheap form of motorsport.

Bit rich for me I'm afraid, unless someone wants to sponsor the slowest car on the track to the tune of $3000.

You'll get plenty of exposure for your advertising dollar though! Far better than putting your company logo on the fastest car

Generally speaking I stay away from events that cost more to enter than my car cost to buy.

Sure looks like fun though, wish I had the resources to enter.

does your car have enough torque to get you up the mountain at speed?
