  • Motor sport options - Brisbane

    Hi again everyone

Curious to know about casual motor sport events in and around Brisbane.

I am keen to have a proper drive in my GTi. So what is going on in and around the Brisbane area in the near future?

Interested in anything from track days, hill climbs, drags and motorkhana.

Keen to hear of any events in the near future

    Cheers

              Hill climb at mt cotton

I know that there is a hill climb at the mt cotton somewhere. I think the MG club runs it. Does anybody know about it? Do you think that they would be keen to let a group of dubbers book it for a day. I imagine that it would be a fun and social day.

Hill climbs seem like a relatively safe and fun outing for the newbies like me.

Surely there is a big patch of bitumen somewhere where we could organise some motokhana type event

                  Ok some more googling

Tighe Cams Hillclimb 15th March - not sure who runs it but I suspect it is the holden sporting car club of queensland. Apparently open to all - unfortunately I cannot find any contact details

                    Hey guys,
We're hoping to get started doing our track days in QLD sometime soon. If anyone wants to come down to NSW though, we have plenty coming up. Check out our site for up coming events. http://autosports.com.au

the next local track events is saturday 4th April at QR, 5th april at lakeside.

I'll probably do lakeside this time, I've never ran there. Check out my trackday thread for some details about setting the car up - it's all very new to many of us in these cars.

Check out the queensland raceway website for details on the various formats of trackdays. I do the sprints, which you don't need a cams license for. Also check out the CAMS site, it too has all the events.

Mt Cotton Hillclimb is on Mt Cotton Rd, Mt Cotton. It's literally next to the Porsche driver training centre. From the road facing the training centre, it's up a dirt road to the right. Short little circuit, best to witness it before doing it, I don't feel there's enough room for error if you also expect to drive the car home. Simply my opinion though.

                            Hey Luke!

I know you excited about doing a 1/4 run, but do you need to YELL!!?

I'm also super keen to do a 1/4 run one saturday night with my buddy who has a GTI as well, and some fellas from work have expressed interest too (r34/BA xr6t/supra) so there would be a mix of cars to run, + what ever else is out there.

I'll start a new thread about it with proposed dates and other details.
