Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VW Build Plate Decoding

The following link is very useful and allows reading of the codes on the vehicle build plate:

Very useful is rather an understatement!

That's a seriously cool site, since it will decode everything on the data sticker or separately by:
    VIN
    PR codes
    Engine codes

    Transmission codes

Model information lists worldwide models and engine/transmissions and build dates (I saw final build date for Polo IV as 31/5/2009)

    Complete dimension diagrams
2015 Polo Comfortline 6M + Driving Comfort Package
    2011/11 Yeti 103 TDI 6M + Columbus media centre/satnav
(2008 MY09 Polo 9N3 TDI retired hurt hail damage)

Thanks Bluey - being an impending VW enthusiast to add to my existing car club involvement, I knew it would be useful but I could not appreciate the full extent .

      Happy to be of assistance.

I noticed that the current 2K* series caddy is going to be kicked in 2009 as well, I wonder if there will be a body shape change (since its very similar in the front half to the touran) or just like toyota's hiace, more of the same...?

Um, bummer! This site appears to be no longer active.

Has it moved to new location?
              Can anyone recommend an alternative?

                  New PR Decoder here....

Hi all - my first post....

                  I found another PR number decoder here;

it looks like it works for our new caddy,
only one spat out as not known; BRM

                  any ideas?
