Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Time to take your FPV somewhere else!

      exactly.

if they are buying it at wholesale prices and then retailing to me at $40/L, then thats an extortionate markup

i'm thinking of buying my own, and getting them to do the service only - that should be around $130 in my pocket!!

Castrol Edge 0w40 i think sets you back about $60-$70. The $190 charge is disgusting.

I supplied my dealer Mobil 1 0w40 which cost me $72 with 20% off. It saved me about $85 of the dealer service, who apparently uses Castrol 5w30.

Yeah, i work at supercheap... and i'm pretty sure the only synthetics worth $40 would be 5w30 or something....

but definately agreed, that's a b/s markup!!! you could run mobil 1 for less than that, and have plenty left over for top up.

Checked out repco & supercheap today. the latter had castrol 5w40 on special for $30. They also had castrol 0w40 for $70, which had vw 505.0 on the label. The only other vw 505 oil was from memory mobil 1 for $70+. repco also had motul 5w40 for $50 which had vw 505 on the label. Both had a couple of Fuchs but not in 5w40 or 0w40

If they have vw 505.0 instead of 505.1, does it mean its old stock ? when did 505.1 start ?

anyone know the price of the total vw505 (from Sydney Filters) or know where to buy ?

any other vw505 oils available in Sydney ?

                cheers

                  vw 507.00/504.00 oil

Mobil do an oil called "Mobil 1 ESP" (esp is short for emission systems protection) which is a 507.00/504.00 oil (the latest diesel/petrol oil for v dubs)

Here's the document for it: http://www.mobil.com/Australia-Engli...mula_5W-30.asp

I'm in Brisbane and got it off the distributor in rocklea for $193 for a whoping 20 litres. Mobil's technical folks can help you find it... ph 1800 033 863

When did you buy yours? Was it long time ago?

I got it back in April '08, but refused to pay the $20 for them to deliver it to me... actually going to buy more soon, I run up km's in a short time...

I'm guessing they give some reason about Adelaide being expensive to transport stuff to... pretty lame when Brisbane is further from Melbourne than Adelaide

Expect to pay more since oils went up in price at least twice since April '08.
