I've been using BP Ult since I bought my Jetta, and have always been happy with it. On occasion though I did have to use Shell Prem and I did notice a difference, negative in a way. I think the car gets used to running the same fuel for a while and when you change you do notice the difference. After reading some of the posts here, I will give Mobil 8 a try and see how I go.

Heres an interesting observation I made...
I previously ran Shell VPower continuously then changed to BP Ultimate for a few months straight, found BP more responsive...
BUT...
after I got my Custom Code ECU flash, I ran BP for about 1 month and then changed to Shell for a month comparison, as soon as I changed back to BP I noticed a definite loss of responsiveness....so went back to Shell again.
Interesting how the ECU mapping was so sensitive to the fuel I used.'03 Bora V6 4motion ~ CC Flash ~ Neuspeed F&R ARB ~ .:R optioned - Bilsteins,Springs, shifter, steering ~ Tyrol Brake kit ~ EVOMS CAI

So I've been only using BP98 since getting my Tiguan, but the only BP in the inner north of Canberra looks like it has closed for major renovations (if even if they are coming back?!?!)
Today I had to put Caltex 98 in it (which from reading this thread wasn't most people's preferred option...
so now I guess I need to find a Mobil?!?!
We have lots of Caltex's stations inner north Canberra...
a couple of Shell, and not even sure if we have any Mobil stations anymore?!?!2009 147TSI Tiguan, Deep Black Pearl Effect, Black Leather, Sunroof, RNS510, Bluetooth, and MDI.

DJY, as a rule of thumb, i'd suggest that you use whoever has the refinery in your area. the closest refineries to Canberra are Shell and Caltex both in Sydney.
If you buy Mobil, BP theres a damn good chance that fuel was made by Shell or Caltex and is just rebadged as BP/Mobil2007 Audi RS4 with: APR ECU Upgrade; JHM Quick Shifter; Milltek Catback and Downpipes; KW V3 Coilovers; Argon Creative Carbon Fibre Splitters

Yesterday I filled up my new car for the first time since taking delivery. I filled it up with BP Ultimate.
The car feels like a totally different vehicle. So much smoother, lighter and responsive from the standing start. I couldn't believe that fuel could make such a difference.
I am not sure what my dealer filled up the tank with before I drove it away, but it must have been the cheapest crappiest fuel on the market, with about 1/3 water!

My preference is BP ultimate. Comparing BP ultimate, against mobil and shell equivalents, BP Ultimate feels better in my car.
But.... even within BP ultimate my experience shows that is that it is severely dependent on the petrol station you get your fuel from. E.g.
Over the last 3 years I usually get my BP ultimate from the BP on Bondi Road Bondi, and the car feels awesome, no hesitation, feels like it should.
Occasionally though I am forced to get it from the BP in Kingsford near the maccas as my GF lives around there. Every single time i get it from there, the car always feels a little bit more restricted and hesitatant. No idea why. (by the way I have filled up at the Kinsford BP about 20+ times)
Very weird.
Anybody else have this type of experience?Golf R: Rising Blue, DSG, 19"s, Leather, ACC, gps, dynaudio, mdi, iPod, bluetooth

I used to be a die hard fan of Shell Optimax and later on when they changed to the name V-Power as there used to be a couple of servos in Sydney that sold V-Power racing which had an RON 100 (not sure if it is still sold?) the last Shell off the princess hwy just before Sutherland where the turn off to Wollongong . But ever since i got my VR6 i noticed it runs heaps better on Mobil 8000 or Caltex Vortex 98 ( not 2 be confused with Caltex Vortex which is just RON 95 ) to bad out where i live i have a BP down the road and a Shell on the opposite direction and the closet Mobil or Caltex is some time away .Polo GTI
