  • Video: Surface Decontamination Clay Towel Tips

Welcome to another detailing tutorial video.

This video is about Clay Bar alternative such as the ZAS Clay Towel/Surface Prep Towel.

I've been using the Clay Towel since they were first introduced, I think some of the reason why they have not been widely adapted by hobbyists is the cost of the product.

This video will show you how to safely use a clay bar alternative such as Clay Towel/Surface Prep Towel, and how to extend the life of the product to decontaminate upto 200 cars.

Except what no one ever speaks about is that a clay clot, clay mitt (similar) have more chances of marring the surface especially softer paints vs a premium fine grade clay bar from Japan unlike the cloth/clay mitts from China [fact].

If you're correcting paintwork or doing "dealership" work, than i would say a mitt/cloth is ok to use. But comparing one to another, i would myself from experience 'testing' several clay bars, clay mitts and clay cloths that every time a fine grade clay bar caused less marring!

Biggest thing is to break them in on glass and always use a lubricant and no QD or car wash.

Very useful and helpful video though, good someone else took the time to do this...

      Great video!

Clay Cloths and Mitts have been the latest 'gadget' in the detailing arsenal, but as noted above they can cause a little marring most especially on the softer JDM paints!
