  • Boss Kit for 93 Cabrio

I have a 93 Mk1 Cabrio with dire need of a new steering wheel, but can i get the right boss kit? Even Autotechnica advised me the wrong model. I know the cabrio is a bit of a mixture but I do know the nut holding the boss on the spline is 24mm.
    Anyone got any ideas?

check on ebay mate, always seems to be a few places that sell boss's. Remember that a shop may be able to supply you a boss even if it's not listed on thier site, so be prepared to send off a few emails/messages!

US ebay too should have some, if you can't get any local (which is highly in likely)

I've also head that wheels off late bugs will fit on as well. But don't quote me on that

let us know how you go!

Tried Vintage VeeDub Supplies in Sydney, says i need to remove outer spline? they have a an adaptor for non airbag golfs. Nice guy though.
Sorry Mk1 Golf Boss won't fit, tried one already! Real mystery!

                Golfworks,
Could you measure the size of the nut that bolts the wheel on. mine is 24mm?
                Thanks

                  It's held on with a 24mm nut.

It's straight off a Mk1 Golf. All Mk1 steering column's incl. cab's should be the same. It was just the indicator & wiper stalk's that changed.

Here's the boss next to a factory MK1 GTI steering wheel.

Next to my race steering wheel with another brand boss kit.

The Momo boss has a depth of 86mm & the race one is 88mm

                  Hope this help's.

Thanks for all the trouble Golfworks but unfortunately all Mk1 hubs are not the same. There is something different about 91 - 93 Cabrios. there are actually at least 3 different hub/spline patterns. Let me do some more research and get back to you.
