72 superbug, window winder thread size??

Hi all,
not sure if this is the right section, but the beetle section looks a little slow here and keen on an answer asap.

Anyhow, got a 72 superbug.
Looking to replace the window winder, however the screw that is holding the current one in place is not correct.

Wondering what size it is from factory... Have hear rumours that M6 will do it, can anyone confirm??

Hey mate,

You do have the wrong section, as this is VW Watercooled and the beetle section is for the new beetle and the new new beetle.

However, I think I can help you with your question anyway - Pretty sure its the same as MK1 Golf, and that is wither M5 or M6, cant remember which.

Regardless, most of the time you can get a replacement including the machine screw, so you should be right.

Check ebay - I picked up some cheap but nice wolfsburg chrome ones a couple of years ago for about $25 i think it was... e.g. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Universal...item232e7db7bb

Most bolt shops will let you try before you buy aswell - I'd be asking for a M5 phillips drive countersunk head machine screw, 10mm long. I'd be surprised if they cost more than $0.50 each.

already picked up the handle, no hardware included sadly.

sending brotown down to the shop, hes not a car bloke, so trying to give him the right info from the get go.
