Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 1Z Einszett ColourTec DeIronizing Wheel Cleaner (Brake Dust Eater!)

1Z Einszett ColourTec Deironising Wheel Cleaner is now available @ Car Care Products - $17.95 (less with forum discounts!)

1Z Einszett ColourTec Wheel Cleaner is a highly advanced cleaner that attacks brake dust, dirt, debris and road grime. The unique deironising formula particularly attachs and removes stubborn brake dust, dissolving them into a soluble form allowing easier removal and rinsing of your wheels.

ColourTec Cleaner has been particularly designed for European and other Prestige vehicles that are known for producing excessive amount of brake dust due to softer metal brake pads and discs. Over time this brake dust causes a corrosive effect which will deteriorate the clear coat finish on your wheels.

Using this innovative iron-dissolving wheel cleaner change your wheel cleaning ways forever, because it requires little or no agitation and you can let the product do the work for you! Of course wit less agitation and better cleaning ability this means less chance of marring or damaging the wheels during the cleaning process.

This wheel cleaner is safe for all wheel types including clear coated wheels, factory wheels, 2 piece, 3 piece, alloy, custom alloy and polished alloy wheels. This also can be used on Ceramic Brakes found on such cars as Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Audi, etc.

How does this product hold up against the Wolf's chemicals decon gel?
I noticed the price for the Einszett is cheaper by a few dollars.

I would actually like some sort of ranking or recommendation of the wheel cleaners (and other product categories for that matter) so we can choose the most suitable product for our situations. The manufacturer descriptions pretty much say they're all good in all situations - eg

1Z Einszett Felgenreiniger Wheel Cleaner is a powerful wheel cleaner for use on painted alloy and steel wheels.

Felgenreiniger Wheel Cleaner contains sophisticated cleaners that remove oil, grease, tar, and baked on brake dust from the wheel surface. For particularly dirty wheels some agitation will be necessary to clean stubborn brake dust and tar. Use a Vikan wheel brush, the softer the better, to gently clean between spokes, in corners and around wheel nuts.

1Z Einszett Felgenreiniger Wheel Cleaner should only be used on cool or cold wheels. For best results do one wheel at a time, do not allow the product to dry, dwell time should not exceed 1 -2 minutes. If doing painted brake calipers test in a discreet area prior to use to ensure colour isn’t dulled.
How would you choose this over the ColorTec (or vice versa)

I found your answer by CCP on another forum
The real differences i would say are more that this offers quicker cleaning and react faster, but also allows grime/dirt/grease to be cleaned where others you may find work well with brake dust but thats about all.
