Painting chrome strips on GTD grill

I like the look of the red on the grill of the GTI. The GTD comes with chrome on the front. I know a few people think the chrome suits the GTD but I think it looks a bit plain. I have thought about painting the chrome strips for a while now, so I put some yellow tape on the chrome to see the effect. Unfortunately, the heat from the engine started to lift the tape so now I think I will go down the yellow paint path. (I have already painted the brake calipers with yellow caliper paint). Does anyone know of a good flowing paint (not spray) that gives an even finish?
