  • Vinyl wrap care and removal suggestions please

    Hi all,

I have just bought a secondhand Golf VI GTi in candy white with a ?carbon fibre look vinyl wrap to the roof. Not sure how to care for this- any suggestions?

Also keen to know how to remove it if it doesn't grow on me: asked if they could do it prior to picking it up next week and told it would cost an extra $300. how do the pros remove it without stripping the paint?

    Thanks.

Vinyl wrap care and removal suggestions please

Usually with a bit of heat - a hair dryer would do. Just peel slowly, should be no problem
Or - I just picked up my work van that had wrapping done - 'total signs' in balcatta. fantastic job! (no affiliation )

wow!!! what a joke. Its easy and won't take you more than 5 minutes- find an edge and start to pull it back - like suggested earlier if you use a hair dryer it will be easier as the film won't tear. You can also wait for a real hot day - park the car in the sun and let the roof get hot. It may leave a slight glue residue that you can get off with some Vinyl Prep or you could even use some meth spirits.
I would suggest you keep it though - carbon roof on a white car is HOT! Do the bonnet to match!

OK, got sick of the wrap- was unable to get it clean as it was a textured carbon fibre and previous owner had applied what looked like polish!

Anyway, got multiple different solvants ready and used a hair-dryer: 10 min later after a bit of heat and a bit of pulling- all gone in one piece!

No sticky residue was left (waste of money buying solvants 'just in case')

Snow-foam, wash, lime-prime lite, dodo juice light fantastic soft wax- roof looks like new...

Now my car looks like the cleanest all-white GTI in the world.... until it rains tomorrow
