Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Vacuuming!

    Hey guys,

Because I love driving with my windows and sunroof all open - my car tends to get dirty quite quick inside on the floor.

Just wondering what vacuum or portable vacuum you guys all using - anything special to the motoring industry?

Saw those Dyson portable animal cleaners at Myer but not too sure how they handle.

Would just like something that can get through all the gaps!

    Thanks
    Roland

Dysons are awsome but the pet one just comes with attachments design for animal hair. I have a hand held and large ball dyson. The hand held is really just for light small mess and doesn't quit have the go to grab dirt deep. And it is a bit large to manovoure in some parts of a car. and you have to hold the trigger all the time so makes it hard to use the hose attachment and hold it on at the same time.
The ball dyson works well with the brush end or nozzle. The drape cleaning tool actually works well on the mats as it really sucks up the dirt deep in the pile. And they have an attachment for just about any need.

Another vote for Dyson. Considering one of these to go with it.

Something to also consider is the numatic vacuums... They come in a range of models a lot of detailers use them and commercial cleaning.

Just to note with this kit the small hand helds don't have enough power to spin the brush on the brush head (stalls the brush) most dyson s come with that bristle brush and the rubber extension part won't fit down the side of the sets on my mates mk6 golf or my polo.

Hard to beat the large industrial vacuum at the car wash...

Good info. I don't have a handheld, and as someone else mentioned I think they'd be a hassle in a confined space like a footwell anyhow.

The portable Dyson was the best thing ever invented. It's the only portable vacuum that does the entire car on 1 charge and has enough suction to get everything up

We have an 18V Black & Decker we used in the Caravan which does a pretty good job Was only $100 against the exorbitantly priced Dyson.

There are other things in the world other than cars and V can apply to things like VOLTS which differentiates it from the lower voltage ones which are fairly useless
