Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Thanks! I'll check them out. Obviously your version works, I've heard that not all the eBay "versions" work (don't install etc)...

I saw some of these sellers saying "does not work on Windows7 64 bit"
Don't buy from them - it's not the program, it's something they've done
(I am running ElsaWin on Windows7 64 bit)

I got it off eBay - just make sure you are buying "3M 1080", that's designed for cars and is removable

They do have clear black and even white available

I also bought smoke film for the head lights - continuing on the steath theme
(I now regret not getting a SuperSkoda grill as mine is going to stick out like a sore thumb)

              Here's the tinted headlight film

And here is a comparison of linted versus stock

They have a brown tint in some lighting/angles - really don't like that

I found this much more difficult than applying the carbon wrap
The left headlight turned out to be a bit of a schocker
I reckon I'll pull this off before the end of the week

Looks nice .... very neat ....

can i ask ... when you did the interior, especially the center console and any other trim ie the strips along the interior aspect of the doors etc ... do you do it in situ or do you have to remove all the trim first to do it ...

and what would a "professional" vinyl wrapper/trimmer charge to do the interior of a car ... just a ball park figure? ...

i sent an enquiry to 3 separate guys who were advertising on gumtree over a week ago ... none have replied as yet ... i don't understand why they bother to pay for advertising if they don't respond to inquiries

and finally, is it possible to get that stuff in a black satin finish ... or something close to the vw "piano black" trim ... do all of the sheets have that typical carbon fiber "weave" pattern? ... is it not possible to get it in a "flat' or plain black color?
