Windscreen marks

Every few months a film of haze builds up on the inside of my windscreen. Nothing unusual, all cars do that. But when it happen on my golf, it reveals the suction cup marks from when the screen was handled in the factory and a ghost of the barcode/order form that must have been suck to the inside of the screen. I thought after 2.5 years of cleaning I would have permanently erased these marks but if anything they are getting worse. The glass surface, inside and out, appears more porous than normal glass. Cleaning with microfibre cloth leaves traces of cloth all over the screen.

Has anyone else seen these problems?

Yes, I get these suction cup marks on my DS3. It is most obvious when the inside of the glass has fogged up on a cold morning. I'm still not sure what I can do about it as well as cleaning didn't help. Although I have only had my DS3 for 7 months.

I tried using computer monitor moist wipes on the windscreen and it seemed to fix the problem for a few weeks and then it returned again

Took me an age to get rid of them and every now and then I catch a feint outline still there.. metho helps but will stink up the car, I ended up using windex every week for about 3 weeks.

This is probably one for the car detailing thread. Anyway, go to carecareproducts.com.au and check out "stoners invisible glass". This haze used to really s*** me off with both the golf, and cars I owned previous. I used to use metho and newspaper on the inside of the windscreen but found the haze came back particularly quickly. Started using this stuff along with some other products from this mob and was pretty impressed. My mrs has a mk2 escort and with a vinyl interior, the haze accumulates much more quickly because of the vinyl treatment we use. This product sorted the issue for both cars.

I now do this once ever 6 months as part of a full detail and it works a treat. Recommended.

Has anyone else seen these problems?

JPH - yes I get it too on my GTI. Have cleaned many times but when the screen mists up it comes back I can only assume it is a residue from the rubber.
