  • Debaging

    g'day all.

Who here has debaged thier cars. I'm pretty sure the newer cars have badges stuck on with something that resembles tape, but on the mk 1 i believe they are bolted/pop rivited/stuck into the metal somehow.

Has anyone done it or know what is involved to have a nice smooth debadged tailgate?

from memory they are a pressed metal pin into a metal clip, if you can get behind the panel you should be able to squeeze with a pair of pliers.

      De-Badging

I think you can pop them off with a flat blade but are left with little holes, then you need to fill and paint

I had mine welded, but I suppose the holes are small enough to bog...

Always better to have them welded. Yes they are small but are still prone to cracking as there's no metal backing them.
