  • Holden Monaro Detail / Write up (picture heavy!)

    As promised, the small write up for the Holden Monaro!

    This car was a weekend warrior slash track car fitted with a nice set of Simmons Wheels with Harrop Brakes hugging underneath!

    The paintwork was in quite a state as you can see below; full of contaminants, tar/rubber marks, stone chips and
    of course the lovely spiderwebs! However we like to see cars like this come through as we enjoy the challenge and more so the result for us and the customer is so rewarding.

    Doesn't look that bad? No lights on yet though!

    We started with the usual Autobrite Citrus Wash APC + AB Magifoam (Snowfoam) on the AB Snowfoam Lance and
    allowed this to dwell on the paint for a few minutes to pull any product that was previously used and clean the paint up.

    The result after washed under our "Daylight Detailing Bay" was this;

    Next we used Tar, Film & Adhesive Remover (TFR) to remove small pieces of tar found on the skirt, sills, doors and so forth.

    The arches also needed a good clean, so once again with a strong dilution of the APC and the Vikan Wheel & Arch Brush followed with a good pressure wash.

    Car was rewashed to remove any TFR from the paintwork, followed with Wolfs Chemicals Decon Gel to pull off any carbon fall out over
    the paintwork as well as the wheels. Decon Gel was left on the paint for approx 10-15m where it started to bleed and pull off
    all the excess carbon contaminants. As you can imagine a fair bit came off the paint![/b][/color]

      The wheels received first stage clean with the Wolfs Chemical's Decon Gel to remove any carbon/brake dust fall out, followed with the Duragloss Alloy Wheel Cleaner 851 for those soft Simmons Wheels.

      Second stage was to give the wheels a really good Buff/Polish as likely from heat from track days and overall life the reflection and gloss from the Alloy Wheels had diminished.

      We used the Flitz Buff Ball with combination of Flitz Polish and also Purple Metal Polish which had same absolutely phenomenal results as can be seen below!

      Again the car was rinsed down thoroughly and left wet for the Claying Process. (Clay of choice is the Dodo Juice Clay Bar)

      Before we started the Machine Polishing/Correction we had a quick check of the paint depth with the Paint Thickness Gauge;

      We started straight up with a Festool Wool Pad and Menzerna FG500 on the Festool Shinex as she needed some work that was for sure!

      After one/two passes;

      (LED Lenser to double check!)

      Who knew this black had metallic in there!

        A few hours were spent on the initial cut to remove these terrible spiderweb marks/imperfections and some of the scratches were in fact quite deep.

        Next up we jumped onto the Festool Orange Pad with again Menzerna FG500 on the Rotex followed with Menzerna PF2500 on a Festool White Pad (Rotex again) and Menzerna SF4000 on the Black Finishing Pad.

        Lukasz spend approx 14 hours on the machine correction on the paintwork but the results, clarity and slickness of the paint was unbelievable! We were beyond
        pleased with the results we achieved and of course hoped the customer would be as well!

        Final stages we decided to use Dodo Juice Need For Speed on the Festool Black Pad, followed with 2 Coats of Dodo Juice Purple Haze over 2 days of curing and refinishing.

        Last but not least we decided we needed a little bit more so out come the Dodo Juice Red Mist for that little tiny bit extra oomph to finally finish this beast.

                that's quite impressive. lots of work and the results show. Good write up too to explain the processes involved in getting the best result. Makes us appreciate the $$ that can be spent on transforming a car.

                  Metallic black, what a nightmare to keep looking good. Great write up & end result.

                  Nice Monaro, liking the Harrop set up & RE55s.
