Best Car Wash Shampoo?

About to place an order with CCP to replenish some products.

I am currently using Dodo Juice Born to be Mild shampoo, before ordering some more just thought i'd ask whether there are any other good quality ph-neutral shampoo's anyone can recommend.

Born to be mild is about as good as it gets apparently. I've used the dodo supernatural shampoo and liked it but cant compare as I haven't used the born to be mild.

after yonks and yonks of faffing about with mediocre (at best) off the shelf products, i did A LOT of research into what shampoo i would be buying when i finally started purchasing "boutique" products from online.

i settled on this:


it's awesome.

two capfuls in 7l of water, so four capfuls per wash (two bucket method, and some wash solution in the rinse bucket as well), and my car had never been so clean. no need to use any more than two capfuls/ two gallons, as the job of this solution is to provide excellent lubricity for your paint work whilst simultaneously bonding with dirt (sounds peculiar, i know, but dammit the skeptic in me was proven wrong) in order to lift it off your paintwork.

i have a garden pressure sprayer, which i mix 4 capfuls with 7l of water in and spray over the car to act as a pre-soak, then, using a plush microfibre soaked in the solution from the wash bucket, gently wipe down one panel at a time, folding the microfibre / rinsing in the rinse bucket as needed. then, simply wipe dry with a second plush microfibre. job's done.

even as a pre soak for when i dont want to do the whole car and strain my back in the process, i simply spray it all over the car in pre soak mix dilution, let it sit for a few minutes, then spray off with a normal rinse spray at the local car wash - it's pretty impressive how much dirt/ dust it will lift away. i havent properly washed my car in 3 weeks, just a couple of pre-soaks/ rinses and it still is the cleanest looking car in the street by quite a margin (and i dont get disapproving looks from neighbors as there's no suds rinsing off into the gutter etc)

if you live in a water restricted area / like to use enviro friendly products, then this is the way to go. my 2 cents....

Born to Be Mild is my favourite personally as well.

But i would recommend and try everything first and see what YOU like the most. Everyone is different at the end of the day!

This year I've used Meguiaris Gold Class (have some left over from previous cars), Duragloss 901, Dodo Juice Born To Be Mild and Dodo Juice Supernatural.

The Duragloss and Dodo Juice products are where its at in my opinion.
On a value for money front, the Born To Be Mild and Supernatural are equal due to the differences in dilution ratios. They're also comparable with the Duragloss 64oz package for value as well due to the Duragloss being a very low concentration in comparison.

On a value for money front, the Born To Be Mild and Supernatural are equal due to the differences in dilution ratios.

I just noticed that Car Care Products now has Dodo Juice Supernatural in a 500ml package. This makes the Supernatural better value than the 500ml Born To Be Mild, and within a few to 20c (for 20L wash bucket) more per wash than the Duragloss, dispite it being $74 for 500ml instead of $64 for 3.8L.

Being that 20c per wash is completely insignificant when compared to the cost of our cars, I'm surprised more people haven't tried out the top-of-the-line Dodo Juice product.

I don't usually diss certain products but i am opinionated and my opinion is that you might as well take your car to a car wash if you follow those terrible instructions that basically say "hey, im a waterless wash, use a mitt, pat me, scratch me, wear me, mar me and wash me!" .. I have it, ive tried it and i will be machining my car because of it. I am not mentioning names specifically but personally myself i would rather use armorall wash (non ph) over the wash you have mentioned.

Just my 2 carnauba grams on the subject.

PPBS is for normal use.

You have your products mixed up.

I currently use it via a 2 bucket method just as any car shampoo

Have used it for years incl on my black Subaru and my black GTI

As any that have seen those vehicles will tell you, absolutely flawless.

i agree. your post could also be regarded in the context of the optimum no rinse wash and shine - NOOOOOOO way i'd follow their instructions (one bucket, one microfibre, wipe down with soaked microfibre, dry panel immediately afterwards).

split bucket (from bunnings), car wash ''shampoo'' in both wash and rinse divisions, pre-soak with quick detailer mixture of the ''shampoo'', etc etc....

maybe not perfect for the pedantic detailing junkie, but still pretty damn good for my uses, and very lubrous to boot - no marring or scratching for me yet, using a reasonable technique
