Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Seat Comfort

    G'day,
After 8 months and 25000km ownership I've decided my standard (fabric) drivers seat is uncomfortable. I feel it needs a lumbar support and more bolster support for sideways movement(as the test car did have with the leather option when I drove it...should have spent the extra maybe?).
Anyhow, was wondering how other owners/drivers felt and interested in any fixes or mods tried that worked. I've heard of an 'air pump' type lumbar support that a trim shop could fit but the bolstering would still be an issue.
I would consider buying an aftermarket seat or maybe something from a wrecked vehicle but have heard that they will need runners/frames to suit? Any ideas on which VW group seats would bolt strait in?

In short I will consider most options and would appreciate some guidance.

    (originally posted in Tiguan)

    Many thanks.....

Assuming you have the tdi or 125tsi? The 147 came with the fabric seats, but are the sports version which are a lot more comfier IMO, as they have extra side support .Same style that are supplied when you order leather for all variants. Could always try them?

Someone was selling the leather seats for Tiguan a while ago. Check the Parts for sale section. You can also try wreckers, you never know, you can get lucky.

Will GTI seats fit? Check that out, too. They're the go.

Oli on the Forum has a set of leather ones for sale at the moment. He offered them to me (I have cloth GTI seats in the Caddy) and I've seen pics.. Fairly good nick and he only wanted a reasonably price for them, too.

The only thing that may be different is the hole centres front-to-back. They are different on the Caddy seats.. But Touran consoles (the frames the seats mount to, which moun to the floor) are the same centres as Golf.

So.. Given that the Tig seats are more like Golf, than Caddy.. I'd reckon they're probably the same. Don't quote me on that, though.

why do you think Caddy would be different to Touran? it doesn't make sense to me.
Preenie you should be a seats dealer. Oli's a bit difficult to track

Could you (or anyone) confirm that the leather seats out of a 125 are the sports version with lumbar and side bolsters etc? And that they would be a straightout bolt in job? I might be on to something; have had no luck sourcing GTI seats. Thanks....
