New Car 'Dealer' Pre-Delivery Detail

What exactly does the pre-delivery detailing involve?

i know part of it is remove plastic sheets, wash and clean etc... but do they add any extra products (e.g. wax) to the detailing.

The reason I'm enquiring is that I'm planning to go over the car with a layer of nanolex and want to know whether I will need to buy a stronger car wash to remove any residue from the pre-delivery detail or whether I can just give it a wash and go!

yes, but using what products and with what skill? waxes aren't all alike, and a $2000 jar of wax applied without the know-how is t1ts-on-a-bull stuff.

Hey mate, I'm not aware of the pre-delivery detailing, however, I washed my car with dish washing liquid to remove whatever was done for transporting and delivery.

Yeah i dont think its overly expensive, and i wouldnt say they are 'professional' detailers.

I dont think dealers do a good job with pre delivery detailing anyways, when i took delivery of my new GTI, the dealer did a poor job in any sort of detailing, i think they just washed it and thats it. I found there was yellow tree sap substance on the edges, perhaps it was glue residual or something from the factory. So i had the car clayed, waxed and polished myself and this is how it should of been when i first picked it up from the dealer.

I think that a thread such as this is fairly pointless, as dealers are franchises, and as such, each has different people performing the detail and they're likely using different products.

The crux of the question has been answered in many threads already before. If you're going to do nanolex or any other type of wax or sealant once you take delivery of the car, then you need to go through the entire process...
