  • Cost of Respray

    Hi All,

I'm thinking of purchasing a body kit for my Polo GTI (9N3). Since I have never bought a body kit before, I need to know how much it would roughly cost (estimate) to spray and fit a:

    -Front bumper
    -Rear bumper
    -Spoiler

All items will be prepped prior to shipping, so all that is required is just the spray and the fitting.

I'm still thinking about this so not entirely sure at this stage. Also, I know it depends on what sort of finish, decent, factory finish etc, but an estimate would be good.

And lastly, if you recommend anyone?

    Thank you.

Hey dude, let us know which kit and the cost of the kit, shipping and taxes.

Personally I'd allow $800, it should be less, but depends how well the kit was designed and how easily it fits.

      Personally, i'd get a quote.
They will often need to blend across adjacent panels, which means you're getting 1/2 the car resprayed.
that means a fair amount of paint prep.

Bodykits (even from reputable brands) can take a fair bit of work to get a good fit.
No point spending the money on a nice kit and respray, only to have 5mm panel gaps that collect stone ships....
They won't be able to quote on this, but they might be able to give you some idea of a price range.

Not sure yet, looking around until I find a decent kit. It's only a thought at this stage, any ideas?

Thanks Bob. I think with body kits theres always going to be some adjustment required. I don't think it will always be a perfect fit, but a decent fit. I'll keep that in mind.

The blending of paint etc and respraying half car would be dependent on whether the car is metallic/pearl or not. When I put the Oettinger kit on my MKV Golf, when taking off the stock side skirts, the "glue" used took off a big patch of the red paint from the body where the Oettinger skirts wouldn't be covering. Because I had tornado red, they just sprayed that little area of the panel (after proper sanding etc). There was no need to respray the entire side etc.

Yeah the Polo GTI has PU sideskirts and is screwed on so the paint colour should be fine I hope.
