New Car + Nanolex sealant procedure.

Hey all,

I will be applying the Nanolex Premium Paint sealant kit straight after delivery.

The kit contains the Sealer and some paint cleaner, applicator pad and some cloths.

How should I go about this? My plan is to just wash the car with some neutral cleaner , dry, use the included Nanolex paint cleaner and then apply the sealant.

Will this be sufficient to remove all the stuff the dealer has put on pre delivery and allow the Nanolex to bond the the paint correctly?

Suggestions anyone?

I did just that and it has worked flawlessly so far.

Apparently there is also a nanolex shampoo you can use which tops up the sealant between re-seals.




Just try to do it either late in the shade or late/early in the day otherwise the heat of the car can make it dry on too quickly and it gets really hard to buff off.

Great! - Will do it early in the day. I bought the reactivating shampoo as well. I have seen some excellent results with these products - can't wait to see them first hand.

Ohmang, I would wash (ph neutral soap), dry (waffle weave cloth), clay, nanolex paint cleaner and finally, nanolex sealant. The clay will remove any final contaminents before applying the all important sealant.

I would do what GTI JOE said, except for one thing. Use an APC instead of the ph neutral shampoo. Just in case the dealer had washed with anything that might still be stuck on your paint (like a combined shampoo wax). APC's (All Purpose Cleaners) are used to remove the previous applications of wax/sealant, whereas the ph neutral shampoo's are used for your regular washing where you don't want to affect the current layer of wax/sealant.

I actually went through this on the weekend with my sister and posted about it today here.

I'm not too confident about clay barring and might skip that...

How about :
1: pre rinse
2: wash using some diluted APC via 2 bucket method (armor all MPC 10ml/lt as per instruction)
3: post wash rinse
3: dry (waffle weave)
4: paint cleaner
5: sealant.

It depends whether your "step 4" there is the Nanolex paint cleaner or not.

CCP may have more experience with this, but the Nanolex "paint cleaner" is more of a "pre-bonder" step for the sealant. It isn't a replacement to the "claying" or a thicker stickier paste like "paint cleaner" such as the old Meguiars step 1 paint cleaner which you'd use before megs step 2 polish - it won't remove industrial fall out or tree sap or other things which have bonded to your paint surface. There is no point in putting sealant over the top of those contamination.

I know, "the clay bar" name sound horrible in the term of the paint protection but it is a very gentle process of making your paint perfectly smooth.

It sure is. The weekend was the first time I used the clay bar method... can't believe how easy it was compared to previous alternatives I've used.
