Hey guys. Was using some touchup paint on sunday on the bonnet and some other areas and today noticed that I had dropped some paint onto my passenger door. Didn't notice it til today when at the supermarket. It's obviously dry now and need advice on how to repair it. Here's a pic of it.
Hmm... the only methods I can think of will also start removing the clear coat. I'd be personally taking the car to a professional detailer and having them carefully machine polish the paint off.
Good news guys. Had a quick look again and used some liquid cut and polish and it all come off! The touchup paint actually came off as a film rather than needing to 'cut' it off. Phew. Paint looks as good as new now! Was about to call a detailer and found scrubs detailing which are pretty cheap so might use them in future for general work.
buffing it off with a machine will also be buffing the good paint around it back to nothing.
best thing is what you have done.
hopefully the paint underneath was protected in a wax or polish... even if it was put on months ago it will prevent the paint from sticking properly.
Another thing is to use a clay bar. smash repairers use it to remove overspray.
