Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • New wheels. How best maintain and protect

    Hi all,
Have been looking through here, carcareproducts, and other random sites but thought id ask anyway.
My new wheels have powder coated centers, polished lips, and stainless bolts, and part of the center has had the powder coat machined back around the bolt area.
Other then getting rained on and man handled they have not been exposed to much of the elements, so id like to keep them this way.

What do you guys suggest putting on each surface to protect and maintain them?
Would like to get something well set up before i get them on the car

fuzion mentions purple metal polish in a earlier thread, would this be best for the lips? and then what for the rest of the wheel?

The powder coat seems to be quiet a matte finish compared to my axis wheels (had clear mixed in?) if that makes a difference.

    Cheers

    hey mate,

for sealant for the wheel i would hit nanolex on them due to being synthetic and able to get onto any painted surface and protect very well.

Nanolex Rim Sealant. Do the outter and inner on anything painted.

For the lips, PPolish would be the one we would recommend as well for any chrome/metal/alloy wheels as it will definitely bring it up.

          As in the Nanolex?
Sounds good, as im not looking forward to cleaning between the lips and centres, and around all the bolts

digging up a oldish thread but thought id show off some of the results.

              freshly polished vs 'washed'
finally had a crack at the purple metal polish. this was only 5mins work, so wouldnt mind having another go over the same wheel
