How you guys wash your Tiguan?

As my Tiguan is getting dirty and dusty I been thinking about cleaning it and maybe detailing it a bit. After reading much info on carcareproducts.com.au. I went online and brough some products. So I am just curious what products and procedures you guys take to wash/clean/detail your cars and if you ever come across any problem with any particular products?

I ended up spending a bit on the following products. If any of you guys used those products, care to drop me a hint as how to best using them?

I have spent soo much money lately at carcareproducts.com, about to order some more stuff this weekend as well.

Am using the wash mitt, drying towels and microfibre cloths from the essentials kit and are all very good.

Have used the Nanolex Premium Paint Sealant kit, i had some issues with it being very difficult to buff off once applied, it has been suggested that i may have been using too much but i was consciously trying to use as little as possible, so my advice is use very sparingly, please let me know how you go once finished.

hahah same here. What is your aveage delivery time once you order from them? I ordered last Thurs/Fri and still am waiting for the package to arrive. Can't wait to try out the products as my car is park under the open roof secured garage so it often collects lots of dusts. I would be happy if the sealant works with simple rinse and dry.

I read somewhere it mentioned to buff the sealant off within few mins of application. So I might try to use as little as possible and see how easy it is to buff off.

I have amicribre wash mitt, a synthetic shamoise, a microfibre buffing towel, a wheel brush, duragloss car shampoo and the nanolex spray sealant.

Wash procedure is as follows.
- Pop up the wipers and rinse down the car.
- Wash using 2 bucket method from the top down.
- Wash wheels using wheel brush (rear first, front last)
- Rinse down the car again
- Dry using chamoise
- Buff windows/pillars with towel

If it has been 3 months since i sealed the car then i add the following:
- Let the car dry by air for 10 minutes
- Lightly spray over the body panels with sealant.
- Let it set for 3-5 minutes then start buffing off with the microfibre towel.



Note that i try where possible to was the car in teh shade and late in the afternoon so that it isn't too hot which i find makes it easier to wash/dry/seal.

Also, as the car is taller, i just open the doors and stand on teh door sill to wash the roof.

I have similar plan to wash/clean/detail my Tiguan this weekend as well. As my Tiguan is a demo car, even it is in an excellent condition I still think the dealer car wash has done some minor swirls to the car especially on the window black pillar. Also the ceiling cloth by using too much cleaning fluid and hence created smear marks.

I intended to polish up a bit, apply the Nanolex Premium Paint Sealant after clay it. I have never try on the clay method before, but the car has thick dust built up and we haven't had any rain in the last God knows how long now in Perth, WA. So some dusts are attached to the paint work.

I called carcareproducts.com.au and the person advised me to re-apply Nanolex Spray sealant once every 1-2 months after the initial Paint Sealant coat to provide max. protection and shine. So that it is easy to simply wash the car for me. Oh btw, I think you can apply the spray sealant on any surface right? Have you tried that on the wheels yet?

I will update the post once I done it. I am somewhat skeptical with those products. But giving it a try. My old car (Lexus) never been washed properly. It always used no bucket method. haha I drove to self car wash place, rinse down the car, use the big brush that foams bubble and wipes the car, then rinse n dry. I also drove it through automatic car wash with those rubber brush. After awhile I noticed my paint job getting worse and worse (its not bad visually but only at close inspections).

Now I just wanna try to see if I can do it right by using the right products. Previous products (ArmorAll Wax) I got at Bunnings pretty much scratch my paintwork straight away. And even the liquid wax collects dusts like a vacumm machine.

Nanolex can be used on other surfaces.
I used it on my wheels to seal them and it did a good job.

It doesn't work on the black plastics though.
And it is hard to buff off the glass so i just do the body panels and wheels.

I have had no problems with the 3 month per application time period.

Just ordered a stack more stuff, have calculated i've spent over $600 with them over the past 6 months!!.

I've ordered the Nanolox Spray Sealant this time to try on the Tig instead of the normal Nanolex sealant that came with the kit, so hopefully i'll have more joy applying that.

Yeah I shall let you know how it all works for me and then we can compare notes on the Nanolex products. I am also trying out the glass sealant(s). Not sure it I should apply on both sides of the windows or maybe just the exterior (I assume just exterior). It says it would last 3yrs+ on windows with no wipers..!!

From what Mike said, paint sealant with 1-2 monthly maintenance with the Spray gives the best protection. See how you go with that. But he did mention something about dont apply sealant when your paintwork is hot. Nanolex has a web site with downladable instruction(s).

Just a user comment on the Nanolex glass sealant (urban), been using on the Golf since Christmas (and in Sydney we been having some rain to try it out) glass very quick and easy to keep clean but the water repellant factor to the front winscreen is not what I expected. I am anal and would apply RainX each night when it is raining to keep the beading effect up so I don't have to use wipers much but the Nanolex does not bead the same way. The winscreen does stay slick and clean but you need to use the wipers more often. Big advantage is you don't get the film build up in the corners like RainX.

Only use on exterior glass as it does "powder" and gets into the window slot or car's interior which is a pain to catch.

You have to be the first person (literally) who has had any issue with this product. Myself and Mike both have this product on our car and Mike has had it on for over 8 months so far (2 or 3 for myself) and find it beats very well.

You will also find the droplets are much smaller.

It could be the case of incorrectly applied, and could suggest reapplying it possibly to get the result you should have.

Comparing it to Rain-X is like comparing a Daihatsu to a Ferrari almost!

Finally got around to wash my Tiguan. Despite its newness; it has a coat of dusts on it. My bro in-law was washing his Camry as well and we were both amazed with the clay (Autoglym Surface Detailing Clay Kit). If anyone never tried clay, they should!! It was simply the most amazing thing ever. It leaves the car paint surface super smooth and new. We were both super sceptic about the result with claying but man does it work or what!! Even his 7years old car was shiny and feels like silk. The result he couldn’t achieve with buffing with polish resin.
I didn’t have a chance to finish detailing the car, we were too excited with clay and ended up clay the whole Tiguan and Camry. I did try to apply the Nanolex Premium Paint Sealant on my car bonnet tho. I used 3-4 small drops and applied onto the surface. It leaves a very faint grey trails and I buff it off with microfiber cloth within 5mins. I had no trouble buffing it off but I am not sure if I used enough of the sealant or if I left it for too short amount of time? I will find out this weekend.

Thanks for the report Tigar, just a quick question, with the Nanolex sealant, did you use the Nanolex paint cleaner after the claying? and before the sealant. I was under the impression that the process was clay, cleaner and sealant?

You are correct. However, it would depends on what type of clay lubrication you use? Funny enough, my brother in law used Durogloss's Aquawax and then clay it. It works also.

Yes, I did use the Nanolex Paint Cleaner. However, I did not feel much difference before and after applying the Cleaner. Maybe it did remove some wax or coat residues. I did find the buffing was easier using the Cleaner tho. Let me know how you go?!

Good to hear all went well, i have clay barred a couple of cars and intend to do the Tig in the next week or so, it is truly amazing the bonded crap it removes from the paint.

I'm puzzled why i'm having trouble with the nanolex if you were able to buff it off easily, i even tried it on my wheels last week and didn't fair any better. The spray sealant should arrive in the next couple of days so will hit the Tiguan with that.

Few thing I can maybe think of. 1) paint panel were warm, 2) application pad is dirty? 3) used too much of it? 4) left on for too long? (like more than 15mins)? 5) applied under the sun? 6) used cleaner to clean the paint before apply the sealant? 7) fabric used to buff?
