  • Removing bugs

Looking on another forum I came across this little gem of a quote -"Little trick I learn't on my Vic->Qld->Vic trips last year. Get some ordinary vegetable/olive oil cooking spray. Spray onto front of car - bonnet, wings, fascia, etc. After the trip get an Onion bag, the red/orange plasticy type, similar to a scrunchy for ladies hair. Then using hot, soapy water just rub and scrub the bugs off and hose down when finished. Amazingly works a treat."

This sound bit of advice came from a travelling Falcondore driving salesman.

Alternatively, if you had a good wax or sealant over your car. Using a high pressure hose 80% will come off, the other 20% when you go over with your wash mitt and you will effectively remove all bugs without damaging or putting any harsh chemicals on the paint.

Also have to remember, any oil can move from wind speed and rain to even areas like your tyres. So safety and mechanical issues may evolve from such a 'thing'.

Option b) Bug Remover Spray .

Totally agree on all accounts, so the next bit of sound advice would be to use Glad Wrap as a paint protector against stone chips?

Blue tape. Worked for me! But it will remove your wax or sealant slighty. And look ridiculously funny.
