You don't use much 303. A few squirts ain't going to break the bank. I like that stuff. Unbelievably versatile.

I'm now using the Autobrite Berry Gel on fuzion's recommendation.
I'm also using the Mint applicators which I've cut in half (a full one doesn't fit between the rim edge and the guard edge. It's very runny for a "gel", but this means you don't need too much to do a few coats of each tyre. It's easy to apply for a liquid and it doesn't fling off like Meguiars's tyre Gel does, even if you've got several coats on to make it really shiney.

It's not quite as easy as a spray can such as the Motortech Tyre Shine I was using, but it looks nicer.

        VERY happy with it.

Hey Corey, how long does the shine usually last? I'm using the Meguiar's one, but I find that it doesn't last more than a week. I recently bought the Endurance one from Meguiar's as well, but haven't tried it. I'm regretting it a little now because I've read that it flings a bit.

The Endurance Gel (in Purple) from Meguiars is the product that I used to use. It was nice, but if would fling off as soon as you started driving. It would last a month or so if you didn't get rain, but then it'd rinse off.

The Autobrite Berry Gel seems to be absorbed into the rubber a bit, and it doesn't fling off when you drive. It lasts for quite some time. I've only been using it a few months so I can't really say for sure. Even if it rains, the tyres stay black, although the "shine" (if you've put on a few layers) does dull - but the tyres stay black.

I like to use Armour All Tyre Foam from Woolworths for $8 (yes I know I'm cheap), but it does a good job if you do two coats and wait 10 minutes before driving. Lasts a good couple of weeks. The other reason I like it is I can get anytime, you know late on a Sunday, finshing off the car, and realising that you haven't got enough tyre shine to finish the job!

Ofcourse! because you sell it right?
I've used both and have found no considerable difference between them besides the Megs one is $16 for 500ml and the Autobrite one is $24.95 for 500ml. And IMHO the Megs one has a slight edge over the Autobrite gel.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, just putting in my 2 cents to help those that research this topic in the future.
Regarding the gels, they're good but very tiring and time consuming to apply. It's also hard to get a consistent application with gels, they're hard to apply into fine grooves of tyres without elbow grease... but they do have a very good level of gloss and tyres come out the darkest or "blackest" with gels. Also you shouldnt get ANY sling if you use it properly and apply with an applicator and then a final wipe down after with some rags. Megs one is probably the best bang for your buck for the gel. The hot shine is a bit shinier than the endurance but it lasts a bit less (who would've thought that!).

The Aerosol cans are ok too, they're easiet to apply, although they will sling if you apply too much and don't wipe down. I find that the shine with cans don't last as long as gels. I have tried a couple and found the megs one gives the most shine but the Australian export/motortech (same manufacturer, different labelling) ones are the best value for money for $3 a can, they also give a nice matte finish and just make the tyres look black and new without being too shiny if some people prefer that. They also last a good 2-3 weeks until the next wash when they can be re-applied. I also find the Australian export ones make great dressings for the wheel wells and make them look black and new.

The liquid spray bottles I find useless, its essentially the same as the aerosols in terms of looks and performance but a less convenient spray bottle which makes a mess, gets all over the paintwork if you hold it away and if you hold it closer it bouces off the tyres and goes everywhere and you don't get a consistant application unless you go through half a bottle...

Getting to Tyre foams which are my preferred method, they're easy to apply and the final result looks cleaner and more consistant than all the others mentioned. Just spray on the tyre and let it sit for a few minutes. If you're planning to drive off then just give it a quick wipe so there's no sling, or if you don't want that hot shine, otherwise let it sit for an hour or 2 and bob's your uncle!

My pick of the bunch would be:
Meguiar's hot shine tyre foam > Australian export/motortecth tyre shine > Megs hot shine tyre gel.

                Hope that helps.

I have both. And i think it really depends on tyres. In fact i think i have about 6 different tyre shines from a variant of suppliers/brands!

I found the Autobrite lasted about 1-2 weeks longer and gave me a much 'wetter' look on my tyres (Michelins) and also on the Polo which runs Pirelli's. Where for on the Passat who runs unfortunately Kumho's didn't do much either the megs or autobrite gel. I used the Duragloss and CG one on that and worked quite well. Seemed to absorb too much and not get a result for the Kumho's..

The conti's previously also suck in tyre shine and don't hold that well either oddly enough. I found the most sling i got was from Megs vs say the other ones. But thats expected due to how thick the gel is.

So it really depends on tyres i think as well! Use whats best for you. But with the comment all the same, thats like saying Meguiars Wax is the same as Swissvax, its all wax..... isnt it? LOL

But application, foam applicator i use myself. Wipe over with gel, wipe again second time thats it.

Fuzion: comparing the Megs gel and the Autobrite gel is NOT the same as comparing Megs wax to Swissvax. that would be implying that autobrite is a premium brand and their gel is far superior to the Megs one. I'm not the the only one who thinks so. autobrite berry blast tyre dressing v's megs endurance tyre gel. - Detailing World

With my original post I was merely pointing out the usual pathetic attempts by the Carcareproducts owner for product placement and to make his usually false claims against other products on the market which he doesnt sell. If he sold it he'd definately have a different opinion about it for sure. The bloke that details my father's ISF also said the same thing last time he was working on the car...

How would you know about CCCs affiliations & "pathetic attempts" if you've only just joined as a member & have made 3 posts? I'd suggest you come clean with your own affiliations.

Naturally the guy will promote what he sells. It would be pretty bad if he said "I sell brand X but it's pretty crap compared to brand Y that Joe Bloggs sells"

From my experience, CCC have been candid & more than generous with free advice in the past.

Let's face it, it's a can of (relatively) cheap tyre dressing that will be washed off in a month or two. It's not like he's recomending we get a tattoo or a vasectomy.

They spray their stuff all over the other forums too I've noticed. And I'm not affiliated with anyone, we've got 6 cars in m household and naturally you'd have a big garage filled with more car care stuff than you really need. I've tried a lot of products from different brands and have no bias against any brand in particular...

He could simply say "product X is good for this job and it does great". instead they always have to say "we find that product X (which we sell) is a lot better than product Y + more, we've also tried it on (insert 2 cars of the forum which you'r posting this on) and it works great!!!

Very true. But theres more to this than the point, it's the principle.

It's called using a social network to promote your business.
I have a mate whose business turns over $2m a year doing similar stuff for other people. It cracked me up when I saw him blogging for a major fitness company while we were sucking down beers & he's a big fatty.

Principle? man, waste of time fighting about principles on a forum. You may as well book into Callan Park straight away.

I have used car care products and have always found them helpful, honest and delivering great service and advice. I think it is a bit rich to come onto a forum that they sponsor and complain that they promote their business? CCP didn't say Meguiars was crap but gave a view that he thought his product would last longer. What do you expect him to do? Say his products makes absolutely no difference and that it isn't worth it?

I use Meguiars tyre gel and am happy with it. Have used foam spray and found it absolute crap.

I use Spray'n'Wipe. No bull. It's a beautifully subtle matt finish & gets into all the tight spots but only lasts a week at most. Don't laugh, just try it.

brad- spray n wipe? LOL .. dude come on!

                                vwpr36,

As mentioned different tyres have a different effect and hold tyre gel differently which i found noticeable throughout our cars i the family (7 cars in total, from vw/audi, subaru, mazda, and holden).

I have spoken to the guys at CCP about products they do not even sell and their competitors do to which they have given me advice how to use to get the best result and never mentioned "you should replace this with" but in fact 'keep using it as its a great product' instead of mentioning their own to use.

So for someone who has little to do with the forum/has been a member for long to complain about a Forum Sponsor who has supported the forum for years with discounts for us members and helped with cruises/events i would say its pretty rich to complain. I mean realistically of course any company/business will promote what they sell. And its not like you can go to repco or autobarn and get 10% off straight off the bat AND they actually know WTF they are talking about or can help you with what you are wanting or wanting to do! I am sure most wouldnt know what "pH Neutral" wash would mean!

I have endless products, from CCP, from overseas, from other suppliers and have always had great service and help from these guys since a few years.

Use what works for you at the end of the day!

I would happily take their advice as they have guided me the right way from years ago until now where a lot of other suppliers never gave the time or help.
