  • Crystal Elements - Worth the price?

    Hi

I was just wondering if anyone has any opinions on the Crystal Elements protection package offered by VW dealers.

At this stage I've ordered it, it seemed pricey but I work at an airport, so my brand new car will get its fair share of bird/bat crap, as well as jet fuel residue etc

honestly mate its really not worth it, you are better spending the money on a proper detail and protection as the warranty on the paint protection packages is flimsy to say the least

      Value for money - No.

Get yourself a good sealant or combination of sealants and you will have better protection for a lot less money. Have a look at the Nanolex Range made in Germany and they offer unsurpassed protection including a new wash shampoo that boosts the protection every time you wash.

Mate, def worth it if your car will be exposed like that on a daily basis! I'm a big believer in these types of products (specially crystal elements as I have had that on a few of my vehicles). I def notice the difference – our second car has done its fair share of Kms and has been around for a few years – looking at its condition though you wouldn’t guess it! Still nice and shiny! I know I'm a bit late, but did end up purchasing?

Look around for aftermarket protection. It'll be better value. Stuff like Nanolex and Opticoat seem to have good reviews

You don't have to worry about bird crap with Opti-Coat.

We had it tested by CSIRO with 100% concentrated acid. Has no effect on the coating.

In the two and a half years we have been warranting the product we are still to have a warranty claim for any damage.

Totally not worth it, get yourself some sealant products and just apply it yourself. Otherwise an independent pro detailer would also be a good option, dealership will just rip you off.

The dealer will only send it to a detailing place to get it done anyway.

If you find out where they will probably do it direct for a third of the price.

My wife insisted I get our Patrol done when I bought it Cost something like $1200 for paint and leather protection.

The paint protection was some ultraviolet wonder stuff which didnt exactly make it look like a Rolls Royce.

The leather was some spray that made it smell new and not much else

I then found out the place that did it charged about $350 if I had gone direct to them. Ripped off big time

Well the Passat gets a going over with Meguilars leather protection for about $15 a bottle (not empty after 18 months) and I reckon

the paint hasnt deteriorated in that time either with only a regular wash with Armourall carwash.
