Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Need a Chroming recommendation - for a project Mustang

    Howdy all

I really need to track down a Chroming operation that is good, well-priced, reliable and fairly close to Sydney. I've looked around a bit and can't find a good one.

It's for a project for my BIL who is doing up a late 60s Mustang coupe.

I've heard from a couple different sources that good chroming places are few and far between in australia, less than 6 shops in OZ that'll do really high quality stuff.

My unlcle is using a mob in south australia (he's from tassie) and a collegue of mine rekons' its worth while looking to the US, even inc postage the work will be cheaper and higher quality. Being US muscle, he may be able to get straight out replacement stuff out of the US. (but I'm just spit balling here)

I know this isn't quiet what you were after, but I hope that helps a bit.

One of the most popular and well-respected Mustang part shop in ACT said to get the original parts chromed - and thats from a guy who gets heaps of stuff in at dirt cheap prices because of his volume. And because he said that we didn't think there might be better options.

Might have to look at getting on the Foose Phone and shipping some parts downunder.
