Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Headlining Replacement Brisbane

    Hi guys,

I need to replace the headlining in my Mk3 Golf VR6. The carpet has been ripped off, and the board is basically destroyed- plenty of holes and engravings in it.

Any suggestions as to where I can have it replace/new lining put it in Brisbane? Any ideas on the cost as well? I was hoping for it to be less than $150 or so.

    Thanks,

    Ben

If the board is in ok condition its not too hard to recover it... if the shell is trashed you will have to source one from the wreckers. If you are lucky it might come in good nick!!

I did my headlining a few years back and it wasn't too difficult. It was quite brittle and cracked only slightly when I removed it, but it was mostly in tact and pretty easy to re-cover. I'm not sure about getting a new one though, I'd imagine it'd be difficult to get a second hand one without it getting damaged in transit. Good luck with it all.
