Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Wax Bad?

    Hi All
I was just wondering if using wax can damage the paint on cars as in making the pain appear cloudy and blotchy. Some people i know have used the auto high pressure wax at the hand car washes and also wax in a spray can or tub and their cars paint has become cloudy and blotchy. I only go to the hand car wash as you cant use buckets to wash your car here and i use rinse then foaming brush then rinse again and dry with a shammy. I have alot of paint chips on the front of my bonnet(were all there when i bought my car) and i dont want to do anything to further damage my paint. Also can i fix the paint chips just with a touch up paint from like Autobarn/Supercheap? Thanks for any info.

In regards to the wax, if the cloudyness disappears as the wax wears off then it is generally a fault in application, normally from water contamination with the wax .
