  • Gunky glue foam

Im re-trimming my doors in my B5 Passat, and soon the seats,

i have removed the previous fabric and now i've removed majority of the gunky foamy stuff that is left..

Though, its annoying me i cant completely remove the glue. Ive tried acetone, heat gun, heat gun then acetone and scrubbing, and theres still a gluey residue.

Any tips/ideas on how i can get this **** off.

    much love.

Some tools that may come in handy are small hard-bristle brushes, razors, things like goo-remover or tar/adhesive remover, and perhaps fishing line? Be careful using acetone on the plastic as well, as it may melt or warp it a bit.

I can only comment on getting residue off of paint because that's a small part of my job. This sort of job is always a MASSIVE pain in the ass, so don't be too disheartened if it doesn't work for the first few hours you've just gotta try and try and try.

If it were me, I'd try carefully scraping the gunk off with a razor after spraying some goo remover or adhesive remover on there and letting it sit for 30 seconds to a minute. Do small sections at a time though, because is the remover liquid dries up then it becomes useless.

Hey, i'm a motor trimmer by trade, usually the best is turps, but whether the other chemicals you used has set the glue is hard to say. As long as there are no lumps it usually doesn't matter too much if there is any glue left on !
