Hi all, just wanted to let anyone who is interested that I had to do some post-delivery restoration on my new GTI (why do dealers think thay are doing you a favour by hosing down your new car and rubbing the bejusus out of it with a *****ty old rag?)
Anyhoo, tried Meguires PlastX on the glossy b-pillar trims and they came up a treat. I was a bit worried because it state "clear plastic" specifically, but it worked great on getting out 90% of the rag-scratches and swirls that were there when I picked it up.
I also had to work on a taillight that had some round mark on it, which I first tried to get of with my glass-restorer (idiot) and then had to fix up what the glass-restorer did to the lens.
All in all, if you are a picky bastard like me, don't get the dealer to do any (bodywork) pre-delivery on the car at all except pulling the transport-plastic off.
