That does sound impressive and $160 it's great.

$160 per wheel is excessive IMO. You can get them professional refinished for a few dollars more in any colour you want with multiple coats of clear and it's all baked on. I would have concerns about using wheel cleaner or using a pressure spray on them after the repair.

Depending on the damage, I'd be touching them up with a $10 bottle of touch up paint that you can buy from ebay (uk generally) that exactly matches the wheel. I had two wheels with stone chips that I'd touched up and the purchaser couldn't find where the two spots were after being repaired.website: www.my-gti.com

well each to their own really... i only went to this place, as they don't have to take the wheels off, and have my car out of action for a day or 2. it was quick, and you've got to pay the price.

They did a very good job, they coat the wheel like they do at the manufacturers.

But hey, just putting in my 2 cents.

 Hey guys -

Park assist was how my wheels (denvers) got scratched. The GTI decided to park at too steep an angle and kerbed my rear left wheel, leaving a 7 cm circular gouge around the edge of the wheel. I think the park assist got confused as the road was on a camber, it was a tight spot, and there was a tree quite close to the kerb.

After 2 weeks of careful manual reverse parks, it was the automatic system which kerbed my wheel. Should have kept more of an eye on it i suppose.

Moral of the story - keep an eye on it when it reverse parks for you. To be fair, its been pretty spot on all the other times ive used it.
Needless to say, I'm gonna wait for 6 months before doing any wheel repairs. I'm sure this wont be the only one...Mk VI GTI 2 door Manual, Park Assist, RVC, RNS 510

 Hi All,

So my sister drove my 2 week old GTI and she guttered the front left rim when she was pulling to a stop on the side of the road.

I was wondering what the best repairer will be in Sydney. Also is it hard to repair considering the finish of the detroits? ThanksCurrent: |MY15 W205 Mercedes-Benz C250 | Polar White | AMG | COMAND | VISION |

Did a great job on my scratched wheel a few months back - sandstone curbs do a bit of damage - $100 and 3 days later, looked brand new Last edited by DeanB; 11-06-2010, 01:46 PM. Last edited by DeanB; 11-06-2010, 01:46 PM.

Has anybody else had their detroits repaired with a good outcome?
I have the same problem (gutter rash) and the 3 places I've been to in Adelaide reckon they can't 100% fix them - even Extensive Wheel services who are well known for a good job here in Adelaide.
Only other option is a new wheel ($900 - $1000) or insurance claim.
 Any ideas anyone???GTI MKVI / Candy White / 5DR / 6Spd / 18" Detroit / Sunroof / MDI / Tint / APR Stage 1

I've heard good things about who DeanB recommends:
Having said that, because of the finish on the Detroits, a few people (not in NSW) have been reporting issues getting them repaired "as new". See how you go thoughOriginally posted by DeanB View PostMagman Wheel Repairs - 2/21 MOXON ROAD PUNCHBOWL NSW 2196 PH: (02) 9709 2686

Thanks coreying...gave them a ring, will bring it in at lunch time to get them to check it out, see if they can even fix it. Not too far from where I work.

I assume they only need the wheel, and not the full car right? Can they put the spare on for me so I can drive the car still while they fix it?Scirocco R - Candy White / DSG / Panoramic Roof / RNS510
