quick waxes- autoglym vs meguiares

hey guys, without going into too much detail, i have not really been the best to my car in terms of protection- ive bunged the few hard wax attempts that i've done, and i dont have a buffer, so im over that, but interested in quick waxes.

i've tried meguiares quik wax, and loved the results and ease of use, but i want MOAR!!!

so i was thinking the meguiares ultimate quik wax might provide a better result, but the local autobarn also stocks autoglym stuff, and i've got my eye on autoglym aqua wax.

anyone got any opinions?

i use the megulars wet look wax. it comes up good. but everytime i do it, take the time to wash and wax in perfect detail. it rains either straight away or the next day. its so annoying hahah but the wet look wax is sexy

for a slab (negotiable ) I'll wash, clay bar and wax your car.... As long as you provide the stuff!

I dont think you could go wrong with Autoglym, I have some of their stuff that I use, and cant fault it. Personally I use that Meguires Tech Wax 2.0 i think its called, the golf comes up nicely, but Everytime I take the time to do it, it buckets down raining....

If you haven't already got the Autoglym stuff, I can highly recommend the Duragloss Aquawax. Rates very highly in reviews, and is so easy to apply. I got it from Carcarproducts (sponsor on here), and also got the Duragloss Fast Clean And Shine quick detailer, and Duragloss car shampoo.

It's cheap too!

Scott, what exactly are you looking to achieve with the cleaning of your car? Sometimes polish can be mistaken for waxing because people assume that 'polishing' wax onto a car is the same as a proper polish....when it's not!

If you want your paintwork properly corrected (like, swirlmarks and stuff gone) then you'd need to either get a detailer or yourself to polish it with some stuff that corrects the paint and doesn't glaze over the top (glazes are temporary so they're almost pointless...and for the record, glazes are what your average joe calls 'polish' because it comes from supercheap or repco etc).

Wax helps the look and shine, but it won't get rid of swirls!

For a fast waxing option there is no better available than duragloss Aquawax. Its ultra glossy and so so easy to apply to a wet or dry vehicle. I use it on all my families vehicles. Not mine though, Supernatural and Red Mist only lol

i havent got anything yet- spent the day sorting out tyres for my mum's discovery.

cheers mickey for the info- once upon a time, i was completely clueless and i thought that simple wash/ chamois/ occasional hard wax was giving my car tlc.

next time i do the car i will be washing/ chamois/ polish(lubricant) claying tar spots/ paint prep or polish, wipe down, then quik wax (i intend to quikwax every couple weeks due to its ease, and results that have satisfied me so far).

basically, my car is parked on the street, subject to the elements- the waxing is not so much about looking good as it is about protection.

but seeing as i want it to look good, i figured i had better start pulling my finger out. i understand that, say, atleast in the auto glym range, after chamois, it'd be surface detailing clay kit, then super resin polish, then wax (quick wax). does that sound about right?

i'll get there. im also looking through the products on CCPA too.

As I said before, a lot of these products called 'polish' are actually what detailers call a glazing product; unfortunately super resin polish is one of them as it cleans, hides and waxes all in one - ultimately you want a polish that does one job only, such as the menzerna range of polishes. Have a quick squizz through the Menzerna stuff on CCP - they have sampler kits available if you're not sure on which would suit your needs; and you can always ask Mike for advice.

this new knowledge is effin great- there was this hot uni student girl in autobarns today who was asking the store girl how to fix some swirling on her paintwork that she'd put there with a scotchbrite after trying to get bird poo off.... with my limited knowledge, i pointed her in the right direction for 45 mins or so.....

and, because im a loser, i still didnt get her number

i should have offered to "demonstrate" for her on the proviso that she buys me a coffee, but oh no, im retarded....
