Simpson smash repairs on the Greatwestern Highway near parramatta/Smithfield.

The BEST quality work I've ever seen, my brother had the ass end of his MK4 GTI fixed there and they did great work. The guy took one look at the car before the repair and said "This bumper has been repaired before!"

We couldn't tell from looking, but my brother got the rear bumper replaced a few months earlier from a different rear ender through insurance. After the job we had a chat to the guy that runs the place and he told us the place that had done the last job used a second hand bumper and done a dodgy on the colour matching and mounting. We weren't happy.. An unnamed four letter insurance company beginning with NRM was the cause.

Request a new tyre also, there may be sidewall damage that is not visable.

The wheelbase is the north-south spread of the wheels - the track is the width of the footprint If only the one arch is damaged, you won't get the insurance company to pay for the rolling of the other 3 undamaged guards and the painting of all the panels above them! You could probably throw them some cash on top to do it, though. You can get 9s under stock Mk3 guards with a 215/40/16 anyway

Not to venture to far out of this thread where can you get these kinds of wheels I have looked everywhere!!!

Also I have got 16x8, running a 215x40x16 and they still scrape at the back with koni coilovers.

The rubber is lower down when stretched over a 9" because it's pulled across further - it also tapers out on an angle. You may not have the perfect offset either

              I would've put a 195/45/16 on that wheel.

16x9s are available from loads of places (though ultimately not many in Aus) - Carshine, wheelwarehouse... I wouldn't buy at either of these places, though. Tunershop, Dubmeister and Style Dynamix are only an email away and all ship down here for surprisingly cheap.

I feel bad not buying anything locally, but our new parts prices are a joke and always will be as there'll never be enough of a bulk market.

If you buy from Tunershop USA, ask them to write the wheels down as US-made and they shoot straight through customs without a problem - just tried this one myself

There are some good used wheels in the Vortex classifieds too.
