Who are these idiots? I'm sure you could still go to an Ombudsmen, they're not supposed to just do 'cash jobs'. Do you have any proof of paying for the job?

In the pictures the tailgate looks darker. Really need to get it in some good natural light to compare. I had both of my car slightly damaged last year that required paint work. The colour match was good but they both had silicon spots in the new paint. Told them I was not happy and they re-sprayed the cars. The Jetta was good round 2 still waiting to pick up the Toyota from round 2 this week. So have a good look for silicon spots too.MY20 Golf GTI TCR

No, but I have a letter from PPG stating where and it was fixed with the description and rego of my car. This gives enough proof that they did the job. I have followed the instruction given to me from the ACCC and put my intentions in writing to the paint shop. I will next contact the office of fair trading to start the process from their end.Originally posted by madglf3 View PostWho are these idiots? In natural light it is quite obvious. What is a silicon spot? Can you briefly describe what it looks like?Originally posted by TDiJetta09 View PostIn the pictures the tailgate looks darker. Hi, Silicon spots or fish eye is caused when there is a contamination (oil, silicon etc) on the surface of the car before it is painted. When the paint is sprayed over the contaminated area it is repelled from the contamination causing a little circle with no paint on it, know as a fish eye. The only real fix is to sand it back and start again. There is a short vid on YouTube or Google it.MY20 Golf GTI TCR

Also check around the edges of the panel to ensure there isn't paint build up/overspray, which is a dead give away to being resprayed. It's only a few minute job to rub it back with a wet/dry sand paper but they don't necessarily do that. I recently had the side of my car resprayed (I was very lightly side swipped) and when I picked up the car it stood out.
They had also called to say the car was ready to be picked up, yet the side skirt had a gap to panel so when asked wtf... "oh yeah, we've ordered a new skirt so you'll have to come back". If I was told that on the phone before collecting the car, I'd have no issue with it whatsoever, that fact I had to question it after they'd given me the key, not cool.
Also check for overspray over the rest of the car. just run your hand over all the panels. Overspray will feel like sandpaper.
Nothing wrong with being anal about getting the quality of service that is reasonable. We're not talking 10-15yr old falcodores.Track Car: 06 Polo GTI Red Devil mkII

I am much happier now. My car is painted the CORRECT colour! Very happy with the job they did. I took it to Victory Motor Body Works at Brendale to get it done right. Just need to take it back next week to get the badges put on once they arrive.MY10 Skoda Octavia vRS Wagon 2.0 TSI 6sp Man
