Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Need a call out quote on an my import!

    HI guys,

As many of you know, I just imported my MK2 Golf from the UK. Problem is, the movers scratched and dented some of the paintwork. I have contacted them regarding this, and I need to get a quote for the repairs along with pics.

Is there anyone in the Sydney area that can come out to do the quote? It's going to need some scratches removed or the whole lot sprayed, whichever is the more "friendly"

    Cheers

    Colin

Hey Colin. I could possibly help with the scratches but i wont be able to remove the dent. How deep are the scratches? also is it original paint? if so then rubbing back and buffing paint that old isn't the best idea

As far as I know it's original paint, but looking to get as much from them as possible since they deleted the before shipping pics, so trying to go for as much a full respray as possible.

Scratches are fine, some chips off the paint and a few dings. Front flares will need to be repainted along with the front bumper as the flare has a white scuff on it and the bumper has chipped a huge bit of paint.
