Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Aydan's Mk3

I got some practice in today with Aydan's diesel. Unfortunately the paintwork was in bad condition (though it's not Aydan's fault!) so I couldn't perfect the paintwork, but I think it made a nice difference

It got a two-stage machine polish and topped it with some duragloss 601+105 combo sealant.

LOL!! Just playing. Great job mate you really improved the gloss and no doubt removed most of those marks out as well.

                      BIG improvement there! Nice work!

The area around the headlights still looks quite dull tho?

                        Thanks Matty

You mean the actual headlight part? That's ABS plastic, they're unpainted

VR6 owners should be in the fact book of buying the most amount of plastic protectant lol! what the hell were the germans thinking leaving that much to be 303'd all the time! lol

yeah i have a weird one - bumpers are unpainted plastic all over, no shiny bits, and then theres the headlight surrounds - plastic. mirrors are also unpainted and to top it all off theres the spoiler, door trims and even my badgless grill is unpainted.

kind of good for me - less paint to chip off the front with all the km i do

must say the biggest inprovement i've noted is on bonnet and roof, and front guards. bonnet (esp leading edge) is very stoneshipped and marked from gazzilions of bugs - all the marks are gone. Woot!
