Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Removing Window Tint

    Hi All,

The window tint on my car is starting to show signs of age. There are a couple of places it is even starting to peel off the window.

I have removed window tint in the past from my last car to get it retinted but the rear window on that one had no heater elements on it.

Does anyone have any ideas about getting the tint off the rear window of the golf with the heater elements on it without damaging the elements.

If I can get it off, the wife has already given the go ahead to get it re tinted ...

Just take it to the tinter. They usually steam it off. I doubt they will charge you much to do it, its usually included if you buy a good tint package
