Dash Mat/ Aircon - 79 Golf GLD

Does anyone know where I can get a dash mat for my 79 Golf GLD?

Also are there any airconditiong units still available for the Mk1 Golf GLD too in Australia?

I have a few dashmats here in the shed. Does your glovebox open down or upwards? Does it have round vents on each side?

Could a diesel handle the loss in power from an AC setup?

Aircon

There's an aircon setup in the Parts for Sale forum. (I had mine advertised but nobody wanted it... just as well really 'cos now it goes with the red diesel when it's sold).
Does the 1.5 diesel have the power, Loon? No. I put a switch on my (old and deceased) GLD so that the compressor cut out on acceleration. It helped but the old girl really struggled.

Where are you and what colour dash mats do you have? I would like a dark brown one of possible.

How much too?

Will look at the aircon unit in the parts for sale section, will keep in mind about the power though.

How many kW does the 1.5D have anyway? - I have read 37kW somewhere is this about right?

Only one sort of dash in Australia.

Ive had mk 1's with three kinds of dashboards

An early plastic dash that had no cracks. Only the part around the instruments is soft, otherwise it looks like the usual mk 1 dash except theres no glovebox, only a "glove tray"

The late GLS dash with the upwards opening glovebox

I meant Australian delivered cars with original dashes.
ADR rules did not allow the plastic dash (as fitted to the GTI), although I had one. The updated dash with the different glove box came out in 1981 when Golfs were finished here. Many dashes have been imported from England.
