Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

      they can
and if they dont use a heat gun and take they're time you will have cracks, ripples and flaking paint.

get it done somewhere proper, call around and see how much and expect $40-90 per arch

Your gaurds are already rolled though?

Actual gaurd pumping is proper bodywork, depending how much you need them pumped, a body shop might be able massage them a bit, but it could get expensive.

Or do you just need the lips flared a bit?

I'm geussing you only need your gaurds flared, pumping is for fitting massively wide wheels (or tyres) generally.

Depending how well they do it, you might have a few issues with paint cracks

Well thats a phat chance Ray, if you want guards pumped like your thread title well when I got my car done I got quoted $2-300 a side to get the guards pumped properly, then you need to match the joints and also body to thats that has been pumped, without destroying the paint which is inevitable.

A good body shop will do it for you probably on the spot if you organise with them to do it.

raise the car, or get wheels with right offset? different tyres will have diff effects as well, some rub, some dont dependant on design as well.

Probably the best places to go to as well. I went to a drift workshop and the paint on a few spots have cracked and flaked off. A few rubs here and there doesn't help either.

I had my new fender rolled by the guys that carried out the insurance job on my car and it came out great (having the lip rolled before painting would've helped I reckon ).
