  • Fantastic fuel economy ! . . . .thats also in Sydney Monday morning traffic !

    Guys,

Just returned 5.6L/100km on the commute to work this morning !
Hills-District to the centre of the CBD, not via the rip-off M2 either. 7am-8am commute window !
Definitely beats public transport hands down !!!

I've only had the car for 2weeks now, i'm going to monitor this to see how consistent it is.

    <---- happy Yeti owner !

You're obviously not driving it hard enough

jk - welcome to the forum.

      5.7L/100km this morning !
I must have been trying a little harder !

i'm still impressed, I wasn't expecting the average consumption to be this good.

        Great on the fuel economy
What engine/gearbox configuration you driving ?

As the name suggests, we have a TDI DSG 4x4

We live in SEQ on the coast, surrounded by sugar cane
It is about a 12 minute drive back to the M1 and "suburbia"
The speed limit is 80kph to the south west and mostly 100kph to the north west
So don't expect any probs with DPF regen

Didn't record the first tank figures as it is always high due to" running in"
Agree that after 700 clicks it is still not "run in" but should have a more meaningful result
Second tank gave overall average of 6.4l/100km (44.4 mpg in the "old values)

Now the average is sitting on 6.1litres/100km at about 350km into the next tank

With 2 POB on the M1
        at 100kph it averaged 5.7l/100km - that's almost 50 mpg !!
        at 110kph it averaged 5.8l/100km - almost 49 mpg
both of these were with about a 25-30kph head wind
So given the headwind, that's close enough to 50 mpg at 110kph

How do they do it ??

          Same as you mate.

          TDI DSG !

          I'm a seasoned turbo-diesel driver, I think I know how i'm getting the sub-6l/100km.
Just consistent throttle and limit showing off the 340Nm at 1750rpm at traffic light GPs !

I love it in the wet ! There is something perfect with the Haldex-DSG setup that is just right !

            impressive numbers.

Is the car new or 2nd hand? If new me thinks that as kms roll on the engine will loosen up and you should even better fuel economy out of it.

With a few KM's on the dial now, how are things going? I have had a manual 140 TDi 4x4 for over a year now and don't think I have ever seen a return worse than 6L/100km's even after flogging it through the bush. Without trying it hovers around the 5.6 mark. This is line ball with what friends with Toyota Pious' get. The Diesel CX5/Kia/Hyundai equivalents seems to return around the 7L/100km from what I have read. One of the reasons though I think the Skoda does well is that relatively speaking the Yeti is not that heavy a car?

I must have a heavy foot.
My Alltrack has 1800kms and best i've seen is 8.6L/100kms. big improvement from when I got it with 26kms. It was originally returning 9.8L/100kms

I have a crappy street to get out of - 3 speedhumps and a stop sign in 300m. 103TDI is currently averaging 7.4L/100km over 4000km in real figures. Optimistic MFD is showing the ave as 6.8L/100km.

Managed to average 5.2l/100kms from the Blue Mountains to Sydney yesterday. So far 330kms with over half a tank to go.
                    Car had 2300kms so far

Have you guys heard of Fuelly. Check my signature block. Best thing it has a mobile web page (for mobile phones) and you can punch the numbers in quick and easy, every time you fill up.

Dont judge mine too much. I'm moving home and I've been towing a trailer back and fowarth between Bathurst and Canberra.

                      Happy Days.

I took the other car to work today,30 km of Freeway each way (Yeti 77tsi DSG) its consumption at 7.5l/100 is worse than my chipped vRS Octavia at 7l/100.

Should have gone the Diesel mate. I recon it's like when Top Gear tested the Toyota Prious against the BMW M3. The M3 was more economical because the Prius needed to be flogged to keep up.

I'm still at 7.8 (real world, not MDF) and the last time I drove it was towing a trailer from Bathurst to Darwin. I went across a weight bridge when I got to Darwin, just out of interest. I weighed in at 2.7t.

The Yeti is in storage ATM as it's a lease car and I'm both up on KM and saving KM for my next trip back to Bathurst.

                          Happy Days.

I'm averaging just under 7.4 real world (6.7 MFD) but suffering due to a lot of city/suburban trips.

My 103tdi dsg, has averaged 6.6L/100km since i've had it, calculated.
On a trip to the next town which is 25km away The best average reading so far is 4.8L/100km.
That's an easy run with no hold ups, 60, 80, 90, 70 and 60kph limits but I did give it 2 good bursts on that trip.
The sweet spot is 75kph which reads about 3.6L/100km which is about half what it uses at 120kph.
