  • 118TSI Yeti

Has anybody got a date for when the 118TSI Yeti will be released in Australia?

I've read a few articles online, and most say early-mid this year.

I'm seriously thinking about replacing the Jetta with a Yeti, and the 118TSI would be more appealing price wise thgan the 103TDI, should be at least $2-3K cheaper.

I thought that was replacing the 77TSI at the 77TSI pricing...

Nup, the 118TSI is supposed to sit between the 77TSI and 103TDI

All I've heard is 2nd quarter this year and I agree, it really should be the all-rounder Yeti as the 118TSI is a fantastic engine (0-100 in 8.4 is pretty appealing too) and it should be around $32k too, being better value for money.

        I say do it!

In the UK the 1,8 litre Yeti costs only marginally less than the 103TDI. Below is a snap from the current Yeti brochure with prices for the Elegance spec:

There is a member on the UK Briskoda forum that has his 1,8 Yeti chipped to 220hp!!!!! I've been in it and it is bloody quick let me tell you.

Latest press reports all talk about a 112TSI for the Yeti, not 118TSI ???

                Due in March.

Yep, there's a reason behind it. The 112TSI is the 118TSI, but it has a 6-speed DSG - for some reason the normal 118TSI/7-speed DSG isn't available on the Yeti so that's what Skoda Australia took. I'm not sure if the manual will be 118 or 112 but I predict the 112. The 112 has a slightly lower peak torque location in the revs and that's why the performance and fuel consumption is pretty much identical to the 118. The UK has both weirdly with the 112 only offered on 'SE Plus' spec (a spec I wish we got because it has the folding tables on the back of the front seats as standard) whereas other specs have the 118 and you can only get a manual in any spec. Weird huh? Russia only has the 77 and 112TSI, nothing else (but their Yetis are locally made).

There are in fact two 1,8 litre engine outputs.* The lower rated one was originally for the Russian market only (don't ask me why) and is now available in the UK ONLY in the SE+ spec.* If you click on the Yeti Brochure link in my post above you will see the engine specs for this engine on page 22.

Could be to do with the standard of fuel it is setup to use.
I wouldn't be surprised of the 152 can use 91RON fuel if required.

Just spoke with a sales guys from Doncaster Skoda and the Yeti 1.8 TSi is due the in 1st quarter this year - that means they have 5 days to announce it......... Unfortunately he hasn't heard anything more other than the spec & price.

Spec - Same as the 103TDi

Price - $35,290 for a White Yeti with DSG. $2,700 less than the 103TDi

He'll call me as soon as he has confirmation they are going to the dealers.

                        Cheers

Skoda Yeti 112TSI - Skoda broadens Yeti SUV range | GoAuto

                            It's on sale now everyone.
                            118TSI 4x4 6-manual - $32,990
                            112TSI 4x4 6-DSG - $35,290

Plus on-roads of course. Same specs as the 103TDI 4x4 and the only other item of interest is the Reef Package (the 17-inch Matterhorn wheels, side-protection mouldings with silver trimming and probably a black roof) is now available, but that isn't specified. Seems like much better value than the 103TDI and would definitely be the Yeti I'd buy (in fact I think my parents are considering it).
