Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Yeti - Front Legroom

I'm currently considering replacing the Jetta with a Yeti, and, being 6'5 tall, front legroom is very important to me. I'm finding the Jetta gets a bit uncomfortable on longer trips, but the Octavia is fantastic.

Our current RS Octavia has about 100mm more front legroom than the Jetta (~1160mm vs ~1050mm), does anybody know what the front leg room in the Yeti is? The Tiguan is similar to the Jetta, as is the CRV, CX7, so they're all off the list

It's a bit early to show fully but isn't the Yeti on the Octavia Scout platform? So it'd be similar to an Octavia? It felt like an Octavia in the times I've sat in it if I'm honest.

I sat in the Yeti whilst I was o/s in July and although I'm shorter (6ft 2) I found it pretty darn confortable. I've always found the VW seats less than accommodating, my wife's old Golf 5 had the same seats as HHS Jetta and they were torturous for me.

Skoda predominately uses Audi components in the seating and are bigger in dimensions than the VDubs. Although at 6 ft 5 I'm tipping nothing is going to be perfect in this medium car/compact SUV category. I'm sure it would be mire comfortable than the majority it's competing against.

Why don't you consider the Superb 103TDI 4x4? For the price, you ain't gonna find anything with similar legroom, and it's probably the only car you will find enough leg room at 6'5"
