Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Yeti confirmed for Oz

"Yeti has now been confirmed to our dealers, and we're now working through homologating the vehicle for Australia to set a launch date," Matthew Wiesner, head of Skoda Australia told the Carsales Network."
"I'd say quarter one, or quarter two 2011 [for the Australian launch of the Yeti]. The Yeti has proved very popular in the EU, so demand is strong and this will play a part in when we can bring it to Australia."

"The timing is good with currency conversions to the EU," said Wiesner, "But timing is hard to nail down, it's too early to tell. The earliest possible time [for Fabia launch in Australia] is late 2011."

Which explains why they were running around the Dandenongs in one a couple of weeks back. Suspension testing and tuning probably.

Has anyone heard anything new about the Yeti release for Australia? I was hoping it would be end of this year - maybe out for the Sydney motorshow.

They would be crazy not to have one on a stand in Sydney and there may well be an official launch but that doesn't mean products will actually be available. If the show is October and they start taking orders with a 3-4 month delivery like they have been doing then deliveries would start in the late Jan / Feb 2011 which goes back to the Q1 2011 that was announced.

I couldn't agree more, if people see it there they'll definitely have a look at it as well as a funky and fresh design being there. Also, I am dying to see one in the flesh! They also need to have the Octavia RS-P there too. One year, I'd like to have Skoda have a world premiere (maybe a new concept car, or the new Octavia), that'd definitely create some interest (with the RS-P). I'll have to get onto my Skoda contact about that...
