I was tossing up between a Roomster & the Octy. In the end, it came down to my perception that the Roomster would be a extremely underpowered in petrol guise & I wasn't really ready to take the leap of faith to diesel. The features list wasn't an issue.carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic

I'd have a Yeti over the Tiguan any day because it's got something not many cars have these days: personality. Add to that better prices, bullet proof reliability (beating VW's somehow, go figure!) and versatility and you've got fantastic value for money. Go Skoda!

Any news on pricing, specifications and release date for the Yeti here in Australia ??
We saw it at the Sydney Motor Show last October and were very impressed.
Not sure I can see a market here for both the Yeti and the Roomster. They seem like very similar cars.

Arrives in July (fully launched at the motorshow in July) and there'll be the 77TSI 2WD (unfortunately - I was hoping they'd bring in the 90TSI but you can't get a 90TSI DSG in Europe but apparently the 77TSI is a great offering) and the 103TDI 4WD in manual and DSG. I reckon the 77TSI will start at around $27k (like in NZ) and the 103TDI will be a bit more - maybe $33-34k. Hopefully the MY12 updates (new wheels, folding front seat, aeroplane tables, remote heating and electric folding mirrors) are included by that stage. But I agree, I love the Yeti and I really want one, but I'd want the 118TSI or 125TDI if they ever brought them out (maybe as a Yeti Premium).Originally posted by Zelig View PostAny news on pricing, specifications and release date for the Yeti here in Australia ?Mine: Silver 2006 Volkswagen Golf Sportline 2.0FSI 6M (with a sunroof)

Are Skoda like VW in that they have a base price then heaps of additional cost optional extras (eg Sunroof, Leather, SatNav) ?Originally posted by Jake02 View PostI reckon the 77TSI will start at around $27k (like in NZ) and the 103TDI will be a bit more - maybe $33-34k.
I am hoping you will be able to get a well optioned 103TDI DSG at price not too far off a Kia Sportage Platinum / ix35 Highlander (unlike a well optioned 103TDI DSG Tiguan which is closer to $50k+). By well optioned, I mean Leather, Sunroof etc (ie similar specs to Sportage Platinum).
Based on this thread (http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/195...page__hl__my12) it looks like the MY12 start rolling off the production line in Week 22 (May) so I would imagine the Australian Yeti's in July will be MY12.Originally posted by Jake02 View PostHopefully the MY12 updates (new wheels, folding front seat, aeroplane tables, remote heating and electric folding mirrors) are included by that stage. To me, that's where the Skoda advantage is - you get the same quality for slightly less, but with more features (primarily what would be some VW options) and reliability. Eg, Octavia 103TDIs get front fogs, sat-nav and a comfort pack as standard equipment for what is a slightly less price than the equivalent VW Jetta. I'd image you'd be able to get Yeti 103TDI DSG for around the same $43k (on-road) mark as the other two. The Sportage with the R-series diesel is so good I know there's a 3-6 month waiting list for them and the ix35 isn't far behind so maybe a Yeti could be quicker in the first place. Of course, the Yeti is higher quality and drives better, but the Koreans are stunning value for money.Originally posted by Zelig View PostAre Skoda like VW in that they have a base price then heaps of additional cost optional extras (eg Sunroof, Leather, SatNav) ?

You are hanging out for those electric folding mirrors. One day Skoda Australia really will have a car with them fitted then you are going to be in an embarrassing position.Originally posted by Jake02 View PostHopefully the MY12 updates (new wheels, folding front seat, aeroplane tables, remote heating and electric folding mirrors) are included by that stage.

Stopped in at a Skoda dealer today on my way home from the shops to ask about the Yeti.
Was told definitely coming this year, but probably won't see them until October
BTW Dealership was quite busy. 3 sales guys all with separate customers, another couple went out on a test drive and fifth couple were looking at the cars waiting to be served (plus me).

as Jake02 already mentioned, the advantage of skoda is that u get a lot more things as std, that would normally b an option with vw.Originally posted by Zelig View PostAre Skoda like VW in that they have a base price then heaps of additional cost optional extras (eg Sunroof, Leather, SatNav) ?
i looked at the jetta (147) & the golf gti. an equivalent spec'ed one as mine would've cost me around $55k, brand new!!
i drove mine away for just $44k!!
u get alot more bang for buck with a skoda than u do with vw or an audi.....for sure.MY17 Superb 162TSI, Business Grey, Tech+Comfort Pack, APR ECU+TCU Stg 1, SLA, Rieger Splitter + Side Skirts, Eibach Pro-Kit Springs, Hardrace Swaybar, TPMS

I have mainly been looking at the Skoda NZ website, but they only seemed to offer the Yeti in two different engines with similar standard features then it came down to optional add-ons (a la VW). However, looking at Skoda UK website, I see they have Trim levels (E, S, SE, Elegance) that have more and more kit as standard. That's what I want to see here.Originally posted by dArK5HaD0w View Postas Jake02 already mentioned, the advantage of skoda is that u get a lot more things as std, that would normally b an option with vw.

Don't.Originally posted by Zelig View PostI has been looking at the Skoda NZ website,
Skoda in New Zealand is imported by a private distributor. They have a far greater ability to customise vehicles and to pick and choose what they want compared to the factory owned Skoda Australia. You have to couple that with NZ having very different regulations relating to safety systems and pollution gear than Australia does. You can't relate what is on sale in the two countries.Last edited by K1W1; 08-05-2011, 09:56 PM.
